Chapter 423
"No, you really look incredible," said Vance. He took a step closer, admiring Dominic's appearance.
That chiseled face and imposing frame, even Dominic's hands and hair, seemed to have been crafted with
impossible precision. He could reel people in without even trying.
Vance could hardly stop himself from wanting to get closer. As he leaned in, Dominic raised a hand, stopping
him.
With a stern expression, Dominic said, "Vance, we agreed to respect boundaries. Don't cross the line."
Vance responded, "I'm sorry. | just couldn't help it."
Dominic replied, "Try harder."
Vance said, "lI am trying."
To that, Dominic said, cracking his knuckles. "If you can't control yourself, I'll knock you out."
Vance gave a sheepish smile and backed off. Meanwhile, Dominic moved to the couch and sat down. Back then,
he had been completely oblivious. By the the figured out Vance was gay, their friendship had already
changed. There was confusion, distance, and awkward silences.

Eventually, they talked it out. Vance said that he was born this way and promised never to cross any lines.
Mutual respect was the deal. So, they were still friends.
Still, every now and then, Dominic had to put up with such moments. Vance wasn't the best at restraint.
Vance sat beside him. The world's greatest tragedy was that his best friend was straight and couldn't become
gay.
In the meantime, Vespera was standing in front of a full-length mirror, dabbing foundation over the faint red
marks on her chest. Her brows furrowed as she examined herself. The white gown they had given her was both
low-cut and backless. Who picked this gown? She wanted to have a talk with them.
She tugged at the neckline, but it still dipped way too low. Feeling helpless, she let her hair down, sweeping it
forward to cover her chest. She left the rest of her hair at the back to mask the exposed skin there.
Vespera then opened the door and stepped out. Gerard happened to glance up and froze. After several long
seconds, he whipped his head away and covered his
nose.
Vespera was at a loss for words. She asked, "Are you serious right now?"
She tossed Gerard a pack of tissues. He took two out, but instead of using them, he handed them back to her. He
said, "Can you cover up a little? | feel like Mr. Reid might gouge my eyes out."
Vespera replied, "Don't worry. He won't have the tto do that."
After all, there'll be tons of people at the gala.
Vespera pushed the tissue back to Gerard.
Just then, Calvert walked in from outside as he went out after getting dressed. The transformation was
impressive. His black suit was tailored to perfection. He had a silver-black cross earring on his ear and a tattoo
on his neck. He was the perfect mix of rebellious and refined.
"You're so handsome," said Vespera, ruffling Calvert's hair.
She had a known weakness for good-looking and strong younger men. They were always fun to look at.
Calvert held up the tie in his hand and said, "Yeah, but this thing is choking me. It feels like I'm being hanged.
Can | skip it?"
Vespera answered, "I think you can."
She didn't think it was a huge deal.
Gerard, still trying to breathe through his own tie, muttered, "Hey, I'm still alive."
Calvert stuffed the tie into his pocket and dropped onto the couch, his long legs sprawled across the coffee table.
He said, "I looked around the place just now. The terrain is complex, and there are a bunch of hidden cameras. |
smashed them."
Gerard broke into a cold sweat. He shouted, "You what?"
Calvert placed his hands behind his head and said, "What's the big deal? They'll just put them back up. Guests
are allowed to have moods, right? Besides, we didn't harm anyone. And Evelyn said they recruit violent people. |
am one."
Gerard felt defeated. He felt like he was on the verge of death.
Vespera didn't think Calvert was wrong. People with violent tendencies usually had unstable tempers. If the
association was recruiting that kind of person, they had to be ready to deal with the chaos that cwith it. In a
twisted way, it made him even more qualified.
"Nice work, Calvert." A woman's voice sounded from the door.
Evelyn stepped out of the room. She was dressed in a champagne-gold wide-leg jumpsuit. She looked like
royalty. Elegantly, she clapped and praised, "We're all potential members tonight. It's only right to show off our
strength."
Calvert gave her a stylish salute.
