Jason leaned against the wall, slowly making his way into the emergency room.
A small and delicate figure lay motionless on the operating table, appearing almost lifeless. Only her
eyes, hidden behind long lashes, betrayed signs of movement, suggesting she was still clinging to life.
Her face had been wiped clean of the bloodstains, revealing a pale and frail visage. Jason knelt on one
knee beside the table, his voice lowered as he gently called out, “Eleanor…”
That soft voice managed to pull Eleanor back from the brink of unconsciousness. She struggled to
open her weary eye, hoping to catch a glimpse of him one last time, but she couldn’t see anything.
“Garrett…”

closer to her mouth, he could finally hear her calling his name.
“I’m here.”
Jason held her hand, providing her with a semblance of strength. Drawing in shallow breaths of the
life–sustaining oxygen, she spoke brokenly, her words carrying her final wish, “Take care of Hailey…”
In her last moments before departing, Eleanor hoped that Hailey, whom she regarded as a sister, would
lead a safe and healthy life. Jason lowered his head to kiss her forehead, and lightly said, “Okay.”
Eleanor forced a faint smile, then weakly said, “Garret…in our next life…don’t forget me again.”
Jason’s heart ached, as if being suffocated; he couldn’t breathe.
It turned out that some regrets were unbearable, like the pain of needles piercing his heart now.
He took a deep breath, his chest feeling a little more comfortable, but he was still immersed in guilt.
He shivered as he held her icy hands, placed them on his heart, and solemnly vowed, “Wait for me.”
She promised him their next life, and he let her wait for him. That would be the best ending and the

“Are you waiting for Hailey?”
Eleanor smiled and said, “Yeah…”
Just as she finished speaking, Hailey, supported by Liana, walked in.

keep her eyes open now.
Breathing in the life–saving oxygen, she used all her remaining strength to comfort Hailey: “Don’t… be
sad… Take good care of yourself…” Just that one sentence had exhausted her, leaving her without the
strength to speak anymore.
In a daze, Hailey’s cries slowly faded away, replaced by a cold voice.
“Eleanor…”
She forced her eyes open again, and looked in the direction of that voice…
