Chapter 126: Her Command

Chapter 126: Her Command.

Silas trudged inside his house and sank into the couch. He was tired, not just physically, but mentally too.

His phone rang and he reached for it from his back pocket. His brother was calling.

"Hey bro," he said, his voice groggy.

"Si, what's up?" Thomas asked.

"Just there," he admitted, stretching out his legs.

"| just heard the news you released, was that a way to distract them from my matter?" Thomas asked, his voice

calm. Silas rubbed his temple as shsettled in his stomach. He didn't want to talk about his rash decisions.

"No," he said, then told Thomas about Kim's accident.

"Oh, Silas."

"I know, | know," Silas sighed. "Everything happened so fast."

By the the went downstairs to confirm it was really Kim, speculations were already spreading. Reporters

were around, and he knew wherever they were, trouble was bound to follow. And he was really avoiding trouble.

They would complicate the whole situation, and that would make Ivy even madder. Not that diverting the issue

hadn't caused problems, but he felt it would have been worse.

"Did the media say anything? You know, form stories about why Kim was in your office?" Thomas asked, his voice

cutting through Silas's thoughts.

"Not that | know of," he replied. "I hope Ivy's business announcement was the perfect diversion."

"Oh it is," Thomas said cheerfully. "People are actually congratulatingtoo."

Silas chuckled, pride swelling in his chest. "That's great then."

"About my case," Thomas said and Silas straightened up. "Patrica is settling tomorrow, | think Wade is trying to

secure a hearing fortoo, but | am not sure."

"What twould it be?"

"You don't have to cSi, | don't want that publicity taking away the one you created," Thomas said quickly.

"But | want-"

"You've done more than enough for me, Si. Sit this one out please," Thomas insisted.

Silas laughed at Thomas's tone. "Alright boss."

Thomas chuckled. "Have you spoken to Theresa? I've been calling but she hasn't answered."

"Maybe she's just resting, Silas suggested. "Don't worry, I'll call her and check up with her security."

"Alright. Thanks man."

"No problem. Take care," Silas said and ended the call.

He dropped the phone on the table and tilted his head. "Monica?"

Monica appeared almost immediately. "Hello sir."

"Hey, please makea glass of coffee," he said and Monica left.

A few moments later, she returned with a cup and set it on the table. "Would that be all, sir?"

"Yes," he replied and she left.

Silas wanted something stronger like vodka, or whiskey but he was too tired to handle them. Besides, he wanted

to be sharp when Ivy returned home.

His thoughts drifted to Ivy and he shook his head, trying to remove the embarrassment that cwith them. It

was so dumb of him to make that move, and even dumber of him to argue with her.

"Shit," he cursed as he sipped his coffee.

Like always, Ivy made him powerless, vulnerable.

His phone rang again, and he stretched for it. Rosie was calling.

"Hey, Rosie," he said.

"Hey Silas. I'm waiting for you. Where are you?" Rosie asked.

He dropped his coffee, confusion racing through him. "What?"

"I'm in the hospital with Kim," Rosie explained. "She called me, where are you?*

Annoyance replaced his confusion, but he forced himself to keep his voice steady. He couldn't possibly shout at

Rosie. Instead, he said softly. "I am not coming"

"What? Why?" He heard the confusion in Rosie's voice. "She needs you."

"No she doesn't," he said firmly. I'm done having her in my life."

"But Silas... She was hit right outside your building," Rosie pressed, disbelief filling her voice.

Well, he wasn't backing down either.

"Givethe hospital address, | will send sget-well-soon cards and pay off the bills, Silas replied, "If she

hadn't come. if she had leftalone like | told her to, that wouldn't have happened"

Rosie gasped. "Silas... this is so unlike you."

"I know," he said, his forehead creasing even though she couldn't see him. "I have condoned her habits for so

long. | shouldn't have brought her to my house, but | won't have her disturb my marriage again."

Rosie argued. "Silas, she's hurt, she needs-"

"I will sort the hospital bills, Rosie." He interrupted her. "And that would be it. Send my regards to her. Bye." Then

he hung up before she had more to say.

Silas's jaw tightened as he dropped his phone. He couldn't believe Rosie would even make such a suggestion,

especially knowing the public consequences.

Before he could ponder further, the front door opened and Tyler entered with a bunch of items in his hands.

"Evening sir,” he greeted as he laid them one after the other. "I got Ms Stone those dresses like you asked, sir,

Tyler said gesturing to a brown box. "And those diamonds too, sir."

Then Tyler left and returned with a bouquet of flowers. He placed them on the table and Silas admired them.

"I have set up meetings with the event planner. They will be coming around by 10 tomorrow."

Silas nodded. He had to say, Tyler was a faster and effective P.A than Rachel. "Thank you Tyler."

"You're welcome, sir, Tyler smiled, looking pleased. "I have also delivered your message to Detective Moro....

Mor..."

"Detective Morovic, yes." Silas finished for him. He was the detective in-charge of the vandalism case.

"Detective Morovic, Tyler repeated. "He said he would keep them locked up till further investigations are carried

out."

"Alright," Silas nodded. "And Wade?"

"I haven't heard from him, sir, Tyler said, "but | would send a follow-up message."

"Okay. Thank you, Tyler, Silas smiled, impressed by his work rate.

"You're welcome, sir."

"That would be all for now. Letknow Wade's reply when you get it."

"Definitely sir. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Silas said and watched as Tyler left the room.

Once alone, Silas reached for his coffee. He was trying every means to please

Ivy, hoping that she'll forgive his stupidity

again.

He wanted to press charges on Mason; Ivy had hinted at that. He wanted to know

if there was something that could be done, hence his messages to Wade.

The front door opened again and this tIvy walked in. With the way she held

her bag, he could tell she was tired.

"Welcome," he said softly.

She turned, a twinkle of surprise in her eyes before it was replaced with annoyance. "Thanks," she said flatly and

walked to the stairs.

Silas didn't follow her, he just spoke. "We need to talk."

"I'm tired," she said immediately, just like he had guessed, and made her way to

her room.

He waited, sipping his coffee, taking his time. After smoments, he picked the

box of dresses and jewelry, the bouquet of flowers, then proceeded to her room.

"lvy," he called, unable to knock.

"What?" she asked, her voice tinged with annoyance.

"Open up, please," he said.

There was a pause and seconds later, she opened the door. Just as he had

calculated, she had showered and changed into pink pajamas.

Silas groaned.

This was indeed punishment.

Yet, with heat burning inside him, he dropped to his knees again, surrendering to
