It was midnight in West Lucozia castle. Rufus sat on the edge of the bed and coughed

violently. His body trembled from how hard he coughed. Blood would dribble on the floor

with his every cough.

“Your Highness, the medicine is here!” After hearing Rufus coughing, Eloise quickly rushed

into the room with the medicine in hand.

Eloise placed the medicine down and gently patted Rufus’ back. Her eyes were filled with

worry and distress.

After Rufus finally stopped coughing, the floor had a pool of blood. His complexion was as

pale as a sheet. Plus, there were beads of sweat on his forehead.

“Your Highness, you should quickly drink the medicine.” Eloise picked up the medicine and

handed it to him with both hands.

“It’s too bitter. I feel nauseous just smelling it.” Rufus furrowed his eyebrows, seemingly

unwilling to drink the medicine.

“It’s good for you. You should drink it,” Eloise advised gently.

“I’m going to die soon, anyway. It doesn’t make a difference if I drink it or not.” Rufus

shook his head.

“Stop talking nonsense! You can definitely live until you’re 100 years old! “Eloise said

seriously.

“You’re right.” Rufus smiled with resignation. He furrowed his eyebrows, looking at the

medicine. In the end, he gritted his teeth and drank all of it.

Rufus was someone who remained calm during the war. However, his face became

distorted after drinking the medicine.

He only breathed a sigh of relief after eating a sweet.

“Your Highness, do you feel better?” Eloise took a white towel and gently wiped his sweat.

“I feel much better.” Rufus smiled, trying to console her. Although the medicine was made

from precious ingredients, it lost its effectiveness as time passed. Rufus was unsure how

long he could hold on.

“Your Highness, you haven’t fully recovered after your previous injury. You should rest

earlier,” urged Eloise. However, Rufus shook his head. “I can’t sleep. Oh, right. How is

Austin and Dustin doing?”

Eloise sighed. “It’s not going well. Reagan has cunningly never revealed himself. He even

changed his meeting place with Julius to the Dragon Guard’s secret base.

“Ever since Julius entered Bronx Mountain Range, his signal completely disappeared.

There have been no signs of him at all.”

Rufus narrowed his eyes. “Bronx Mountain Range? That place is right at the border. It looks

like the Dragon Guard has kept themself well hidden.”

Eloise said worriedly, “I think Julius might betray us again. If Julius chose to work with

Reagon and set up an ambush for Austin and Dustin, they’d be in danger.”

“There’s no need to worry too much.”
