Although they weren’t sure what was going on, it was clear that the poison was extremely potent.

“What is going on?” Eleanor, Elena, and Julie exchanged puzzled looks, their brows furrowed. The hall was filled with

people, yet only their guards were affected. It was astonishing to think that the poison could differentiate between

friend and foe.

“Rhys! Are you responsible for this?” Julie was quick to conclude.

“Don’t blindly accuse me. I didn’t do anything.” Dustin shrugged.

“You still dare deny it? You clearly did this, you rotten bastard!”

“Rhys! You’d better hand us the antidote! Otherwise, if anyone dies here, I will send you with them!” Elena yelled.

The guards she brought today were from the elite ranks of the Forrest family. They weren’t only skilled but also

extremely loyal.

The Forrest family had invested considerable resources in training these elite guards. She would be held

accountable if they all died here upon her return. She might even be punished by house law. 1

“I told you. I didn’t do anything.”

Dustin continued calmly, “Even if I did, why would I hand over the antidote? Don’t forget, you are the ones stirring

up trouble here.”

“I don’t care! You’ll be up against the entire Forrest family if you don’t hand over the antidote!” Elena threatened.

“It doesn’t matter. We’re already on bad terms. The worst that could happen is a fight till the end,” Dustin stated

indifferently.

“You!” Elena was rendered speechless. She didn’t expect Dustin to be so hard to deal with. He was unfazed when

threatened with the Forrest family name. It seemed as if he was intent on letting things worsen.

“Dustin, as long as you hand over the antidote, I’ll forget about what happened today,” Eleanor said.

“That won’t do.”

Dustin warned, “I want the three of you to apologize to me in public and reimburse me for the mental distress

you’ve caused me. Otherwise, you’ll be in for more trouble.”

“Apologize? In your dreams!” Elena screeched.

“Rhys! You’re playing with fire!” Julie roared, her expression dark. “Dustin, we’ve been extremely patient with you!

If you insist on being stubborn, you’ll suffer the consequences!” Eleanor threatened.

They were of high status, having power and influence. They would never apologize to the scum of society. If news

spread that they did, how could they ever show themselves in public again?

“Wait! My body-“Suddenly, Elena noticed something strange. She was about to say something when her legs went

numb, and she collapsed onto the ground.

“M-My head hurts!” Elena grabbed her head, looking miserable as she groaned.

“Elena!” Eleanor’s expression shifted dramatically. She was about to help her up when she collapsed, too. Julie was

no exception.

They had the same symptoms as the guards that collapsed earlier. Their body convulsed, their head was hurting,

and their eyes were bloodshot.

“D-Dustin… What did you do to us?” Eleanor yelled weakly.

“He didn’t do anything. It was me.” Right then, Abigail walked up to them. She continued with a smile, “I’ll be

honest. This is my newest creation, so only I have the antidote.

“Those affected by it will find themselves weak all over, have a terrible headache, and finally bleed to death.

“Of course, there’s no need to be nervous. It’ll only take a short three to five minutes till death. So, hang in there.

It’ll be over soon.”
