Blind Date Turned Proposal (Josie and Dexter)
Chapter 986 Mark Discovers The KidnappingMeanwhile, Josie had been bound to a chair for two full days. Her entire body was numb as she stared blankly at the images on the television screen.
It was unclear how much she had watched.
The camera focused on the lively guests. Dexter and Heather were not present. Josie presumed they were preparing.
It's happening soon...
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtJosie could clearly sense the nervousness in Johnny and his subordinates.
Unexpectedly, Josie felt relaxed. She couldn't care less, knowing that there was no chance for redemption.
“Boss... what's that sound...” one lackey asked Johnny, holding his breath to listen.
Johnny's brow furrowed as he discerned the sporadic, weighty thuds of a walking stick hitting the floor, indicating the presence of someone using a walker.
“Someone's coming!” Johnny exclaimed in alarm. He drew his knife, cautiously moving forward.
Josie furrowed her brows. She also heard the sound of the walking stick approaching, the disordered footfalls growing louder. Their intent was unmistakable. They were advancing in their direction.
Soon, Josie looked up, only to see a pair of feet clad in canvas shoes. She continued to look up and saw a hunched figure, leaning on a walking stick. When her gaze fell on his face, her pupils dilated in surprise.
Mark? How can it be Mark? He was already over sixty, and although his health was not the best, he remained calm even in the face of danger.
Mark had evidently calone. He scanned the desolate, abandoned construction site, his gaze finally settling on Josie, who was bound.
His gaze darkened.

If anyone should be asking that question, it should be me!” His home? Johnny searched his memories. “Y-You're Mark Olsen!” How terrifying! How on earth did Mark manage to find this place? Wasn't it long since abandoned? Mark commented, “Young man, you have quite a keen eye!” He walked forward, leaning on his walking stick, completely disregarding the knife he was holding.
Johnny and his subordinates were forced to retreat.
“Don't cany further. Weapons don't discriminate. You're not young anymore. There's no need to take risks!” “I've experienced struggles from my youth until now. There's nothing | haven't seen. Your mere knife can't harm me!” Mark continued to move forward, truly unafraid.
Johnny and his subordinates exchanged glances, unsure of what to do next. Should we take action? But this man is, nominally, Heather's father at present! If we don't, then what are we going to do? Mark stood firm before the tip of his blade. “Listen, young man. Whatever you're planning to do is none of my business. I'm not here to play the hero.” Johnny glanced at Josie. Her eyes unmistakably carried a trace of anticipation, but in an instant, it vanished.
The anticipation was gone.
Johnny heaved a sigh of relief. He's alone. I'm sure he has no other intentions. “Then what are you—" Mark looked at Josie. “I'm here to have a word with her.” Mark sat straight on the steps, right next to Josie.
“Untie her.” “No way!” Josie's wrists and ankles had been rubbed raw by the ropes, her skin now taking on a ghastly bluish hue.
“Untie her!” Mark commanded in a deep voice. “We're at Olsen Residence. The people outside are under my command. She won't be able to escape!” “Why should I trust you? What if you're here to save her?” “The person who kidnapped her is my daughter! | will never harm her!” To Johnny's surprise, Mark knew it was Heather.
