After waiting for more than a decade, Marietta had finally heard the news she wanted to hear
most. She froze on the spot, unable to speak.

Caroline patted Marietta on the shoulder. She waited until Marietta had calmed down before
saying, “What are you going to do next, Mom? Are you going to tell her the truth?”
Marietta hesitated. “Carrie, have you known Yvonne for long? What kind of person do you think she is? Will she

Marietta had asked so many questions in succession that Caroline didn’t know how to answer
them.

Marietta nodded. “Okay, I’ll be calm. I’ll take my time.”

She was happy for Marietta, but she felt sad when she thought she would soon lose her maternal

Marietta’s love for her was unconditional and unrequited. Her selflessness made Caroline believe she could maybe
be a good mother as well.
Kirk hugged Caroline and softly caressed her waist with one hand. “Don’t worry, darling. I’ll. always be by your
side.”

“But have you ever thought about how I felt? Every day, I have to see you and your husband being affectionate
from the afterlife. Carrie, I’m so disappointed in you.”
“Grandpa…”
“Caroline, if you still have a heart, you should get together with Eddy. Otherwise, I won’t be able to rest in peace.”
As Jude spoke, he rolled his eyes behind his head, and his pupils fell to the ground. Caroline was so frightened by
the sight that she sat up from the bed with a scream.
Then, she realized she had had another nightmare.
