Chapter 1851:

“Am | sick?” she murmured, her voice barely more than a breath.

Theo gave a solemn nod. “Yes,” he said, his voice carrying an unreadable gravity. “Something is growing inside

you. The doctor says it'll only get bigger.”

Elyse blinked, processing his words. “Is it... a tumor?” Her fingers curled weakly against the sheets. “What did

they say? When can they operate?”

“In about seven months,” Theo answered, his voice low.

“Seven months?” The number hung in the air between them. Then, like a puzzle snapping into place, realization

struck her. Her breath hitched.

Theo saw the understanding dawn on her face. A quiet chuckle escaped him. “Congratulations,” he said, his

voice laced with something almost tender. “You're going to be a mother.”

Elyse had been hesitant, but his blunt confirmation of her pregnancy left her reeling. She touched her still-flat

abdomen, disbelief coloring her voice. “I'm... really pregnant?”

Theo nodded. “Not even two months yet. The doctor only noticed because of your fever.” He exhaled, almost as

if bracing himself. “I've already informed your butler. He's on the way.”

A slow, dawning smile spread across Elyse’s face, her fingers pressing lightly against her stomach. A quiet,

joyous laugh bubbled from her lips. “I'm pregnant again.”

Theo’s mouth curled into a smile—but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Yes,” he murmured. “You're pregnant

again.”

Something in his tone gave her pause. Her gaze flickered to his face, searching. “Are you okay?”

His response ctoo fast. “Of course! This is wonderful news.” His voice had an edge, something unspoken

lurking beneath the words. Then, as if to shift the focus, he added, “The doctor said you've been reckless—

running around without even realizing. If | hadn’t been there, you might have lost the baby.”

Elyse lowered her gaze, nodding slowly. “You're right,” she admitted. “I was careless. If you hadn't helped me... |

might have lost the baby. Thank God you were there for me.”

Theo's faint smile, already strained, crumbled beneath the quiet sincerity in her voice.

“If you hadn't helped me,” Elyse murmured, her voice barely above a whisper, “Jayden and | might have lost our

child.”

“Don’t,” Theo cut in, his tone tight. “The more you thank me, the worse it feels.” He looked at her then, his eyes

dark with something unspoken, something heavy.

A wry smile ghosted across her lips. “You haven't moved on, have you?”

He let out a slow breath, his expression unreadable. “When you make a mistake like mine, regret doesn’t just

haunt you—it consumes you.”

Silence stretched between them, thick with history. Then, after a long moment, Elyse spoke. “But even if you

could go back... in that moment, you'd still make the schoice, wouldn't you?”

A flicker of something—pain, resignation—crossed Theo's face. His lips twitched. “Yes,” he admitted.

Elyse studied him, a trace of amusement in her eyes. “Do you really believe that just because we missed our

chance, we're done for good?”

Theo let out a quiet, bitter laugh. “What else is there?” His voice held an edge, a bite of something raw. “Should

we be together? You're pregnant with another man’s child.”
