Chapter 1862:
Tracy clasped her hands together, her voice filled with hope. “Thank heavens, one is safely born. There's still one
more. Please, let the last baby be born safely.”
Jayden ceased his pacing and settled into a chair, his fingers drumming anxiously on his thigh.
Half an hour later, the second baby arrived.
The nurse emerged, her face alight with joy. “Where's the father? Cquickly, the second baby is a boy.
Congratulations, you have both a son and a daughter. Here, hold your baby!”
Since Peyton had already taken the baby girl, Jayden hadn't had the chance to hold her.

This time, the nurse handed the newborn boy directly to Jayden. He took him awkwardly, his arms stiff with
tension.
Trying to steady his nerves, he inquired, “How’s my wife?”
The nurse provided an update. “She’s safe, but utterly drained. She passed out post-delivery and must be
observed in the delivery room for stime. We'll bring her out once we confirm everything is stable.”
Jayden, understanding the gravity, passed the newborn to Brook.
Brook, holding the infant carefully, questioned Jayden, “We'll return to the ward now. Will you wait here?”
Jayden affirmed with a nod and addressed Tracy. “It’s best if you both head up too. I'll stay here.”
After a brief pause, Tracy acquiesced and accompanied Brook to the elevator. Alone now, Jayden surveyed the
empty corridor. Elyse was still inside the delivery room, leaving a hollow feeling in his chest.
It was more than forty minutes later when the doctor and nurse appeared, pushing Elyse on the gurney.

Jayden rose swiftly to check on her. Her eyes were shut, and she seemed profoundly weary. He caressed her face
gently and inquired, “Is she all right?”
“She’s simply exhausted and has fallen asleep. Her vitals are all clear,” the doctor assured.
Relieved, Jayden followed them into the elevator.
Once back in the ward, and after confirming Elyse was stable, everyone dispersed to their homes.
Now, only Driscoll and the specially hired nannies remained in the small suite with the twins, while Jayden kept
vigil by Elyse’s side.
Elyse slept soundly for an extended period. She found herself engulfed in an opaque darkness, unable to discern
any path forward or back.
After a lengthy period, a distant light caught her attention, and she moved toward it.
Nearing the light, she realized it emanated from a woman, not the person she anticipated.
She had hoped to see her father, but a stranger’s form stood before her, causing a twinge of disappointment.
“Feeling sad?” the woman inquired softly, her back still turned.
Elyse paused, then admitted, “I thought | might see my dad here.”
“He has coften enough. | figured it was my turn,” the woman replied, turning slowly, her gaze warmly
locked on Elyse’s astonished and slightly saddened face.
It was Jazmine. She smiled. “It’s been too long, my dearest daughter.”
