Chapter 757 A Great Deal

No sooner had the words left his mouth, the nosy fellow found himself being

unceremoniously ejected from the gathering.

With a hearty laugh, the crew–cut man, now showing off a dazzling set of teeth,

announced. “The treat Mr. Emerentius has for us today includes these two exquisite

paintings. And guess what? They’re going for a steal–just three hundred thousand for the

pair.”

“Three hundred thousand?”

“Wait, hold up. Are you saying both paintings are going for three hundred thousand total?”

Disbelief washed over the crowd.

It was common knowledge that Emerentius‘ pieces, when auctioned, could easily rake in

anything from a cool million to tens of millions.

And now, here they were, two of his paintings up for grabs at a mere three hundred

thousand.

If one managed to snag them at this price, it’d be like hitting the jackpot.

It was akin to striking gold, much like the gambling dens next door!

Ylarora was a magnet for tourists, particularly wealthy businessmen on the hunt for stone

gambling, equipped with hefty wallets but never expecting to stumble upon such a

windfall.

And surely, this deal was a far better bet than any stone gambling…

Stone gambling could plunge one into bankruptcy with a single bad cur, but investing in

Emerentius‘ art? That was a guaranteed gold mine.

What was there to hesitate about?

The decision was made on the spot, and the crowd went wild.

Yet, the crew–cut man persisted, determined to see the process through, “This special

offer of three hundred thousand for both pieces is because Mr. Emerentius came to Ylarora

seeking inspiration. He crafted these two masterpieces on a whim, completely

disregarding their potential price tag.”

He elaborated, “Though we’ve seen a couple of versions of ‘Eagle on a Tree‘ before, its

worth remains undiminished. But don’t worry. Anything from the hands of the esteemed

Mr. Emerentius is bound to be a hit, even if he were to create ten more versions. Each

would still be coveted. Also, mark my words, another of today’s pieces from Mr.

Emerentius is set to revolutionize the calligraphy and painting scene. Whoever gets their

hands on it today is definitely going to make a killing as its value skyrockets!”

Lastly, the crew–cut man made a point to emphasize, “And one last thing. Mr. Emerentius

has always been one to shun the limelight and material wealth, which is exactly why he’s

offering such a generous deal today.”

As soon as he finished, applause thundered through the room. Praises started flying left

and right. “Mr. Emerentius is the epitome of grace and virtue. His artistic conception

surpasses that of other masters by leagues.”

“Exactly! Only Mr. Emerentius could create such a deeply moving work.”

“Mr. Emerentius, you’re my hero. Could I possibly buy your shirt? I’m absolutely in love

with its genuine, ink–soaked scent…”

“Ah, it’s that oddball again!”

The room was electric with excitement and admiration.

Seizing the moment, the crew–cut man spoke up, “All right, folks. Let’s get down to

business. These two pieces by Mr. Emerentius are going for three hundred thousand, cash

only. No checks or bank transfers, please.”

“Um…”

A brief pause swept through the crowd at his words.

Three hundred thousand in cash….

Despite the presence of numerous affluent onlookers, who really walks around with that

kind of cash on hand?

The crew–cut man elaborated, “Given that we’ve only got two pieces, and they’re being

sold as a set, we had to figure out a fair way to decide who gets them. We thought asking

for cash would be a good test of commitment.”

“I see the logic. I’ll go grab my suitcase and hit the ATM right now. Gotta show Mr.

Emerentius my dedication,” chimed in a shill, long planted in the crowd by the man with

the crew cut, springing into action.

His move set off a frenzy among the other wealthy businessmen, now scrambling to

withdraw their cash in a bid to secure the purchase.

After a few had dashed off, the buzz of excitement continued unabated.

For most, they were merely spectators. Even with the desire to buy, the means or the

opportunity was out of reach, especially now that others had beaten them to the punch.

The unkempt man ran his fingers through his disheveled hair, shifting his gaze toward the

window. Noticing that the fish had indeed fallen for the bait, a subtle grin unknowingly

made its way across his face.

Meanwhile, the crew–cut man, who had been babbling non–stop until just a few seconds

ago, suddenly found himself at a loss for words, no longer feeling the urge to speak.
