Chapter 375 Fawn's face went pale.
She didn't want to choose either of those options.
"I'll give you ten minutes to think about it. If you don't have an answer by then, I'll choose for you," Dominic said politely, his tone civil.
But the cold, piercing look in his eyes made him feel less like a son and more like an exam proctor holding a ticking timer.
"You-! You're forcing me!" Fawn snapped, furious.
"Mom, let's not pretend this isn't fair. Letbreak it down for you. When I said I didn't want Nancy to cback, you vouched for her. You promised she wouldn't cause trouble and mess with my girlfriend.
"You toldher return had nothing to do withand that it had been planned long ago. I trusted you. I didn't stop you, right?" Dominic replied calmly.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtFawn could only nod. "Mmhmm..." "Right. I gave you trust and respect. And just in case, I made it very clear that if she caused any , she'd be out of Halewick for good. You didn't object. So, wouldn't you say that counts as an agreement?" Fawn's eyes widened. "What agreement? I never-" "Don't try to play dumb. I have proof." Dominic pulled out his phone and played a voice recording, the conversation from that day in the upstairs garden between the two of them.
Fawn was stunned.
He... He'd recorded her? She was his mother, for god's sake.
Nancy, watching Fawn falter, looked desperately at Samuel, silently begging him to say something.
Samuel just kept shaking his head.
Damn. Dominic had laid the trap from the very beginning. No wonder he'd seemed so easygoing that day, brushing things off like they were nothing. He'd been planning this moment.
Dominic turned off the recording.
"The Reid family has always prided itself on fairness and grace. I gave you grace and fairness, now it's your turn. Six minutes left. Make your choice." Fawn couldn't even form words.
She wasn't the type to throw tantrums, and she knew if she acted like a shameless parent now, the image she'd built in Dominic's heart might shatter completely.
Her chest tightened. She felt like she was being forced off a cliff.
Samuel, seeing how distressed she was, tried to step in. "Dominic, maybe give it stime. Wait until after your trip and talk it through. It's not like-" "No." Dominic's voice was cold and firm. He glanced at his watch, then looked back at Fawn. "Mom, you have five minutes left." Under the table, Fawn clutched Samuel's hand hard.
Samuel could tell Dominic was dead serious, so he switched gears and tried to reason with Fawn. "How about... inviting Ms. Gildon over for dinner? You could meet her properly; she's a good girl." "Mr. Reid Senior!" Nancy cried out the moment she realized what he was suggesting. Her voice was sharp with disbelief.
Dominic tapped his watch face. "Three minutes and 20 seconds left..." Fawn felt her heart lurch into her throat. Her mind raced, weighing pros and cons. Just as Domini@was about to call time, she blurted out, ancy will leave Halewick!" Nancy's eyes filled with tears. "Mrs. Reid..." But Fawn had no choice.
If she didn't choose, Dominic would bring Vespera home, and that would be a nightmare to deal with.
She was sure of it. He had maneuvered this entire setup just for that.
"Alright," Dominic said with a nod.
He turned to Nancy. "Raymond will bring your luggage. Be gone by tomorrow. If you're not..." His eyes shifted back to Fawn.
"Then it means you broke your word, Mom with no respect for the . And in that don't blme for taking firmer action." Fawn was furious and helpless.
All her life, people said Dominic was the polite one. Well-mannered, m obedient, thoughtful. He even went on blind dates just because she asked him to.
But now? Now he was manipulating his own parents, cornering them, and forcing them to choose. He was the coldest, most ruthless child of all. Nancy couldn't accept being kicked out like this.
But what could she do? Samuel and Fawn had both caved. Was she really supposed to leave Halewick in disgrace? No. She wasn't leaving. She couldn't let Vespera into this family.
Dominic picked up his spoon. "The food's getting cold. Let's eat." Eat? Fawn felt like she was already full, stuffed with frustration.
Nancy sat in a haze of resentment, eyes red-rimmed and watery, glued to him.
But he remained completely unmoved.
Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. She got up and walked out.
Dominic had said he'd chfor dinner, and he kept his word. Once he finished eating, he left.
