Maxim subconsciously glanced at Briana’s bedroom door, then quickly
turned and strode into the study.
“How was his situation then?”
“I heard the recovery wasn’t going very well, also… there’s one more thing.”

Briana took a just–listening attitude towards Lacey’s scene talk.
“Not tired. Oh right, where’s my cousin? Isn’t today her celebration?”
Speaking of Ruby, Lacey’s face was filled with genuine pride and joy. She said softly, “She’s upstairs on the fifth
floor, getting ready with a few friends. She’ll be down soon.”
Briana nodded, not asking any further.
The two of them didn’t really have much to say, gradually falling into silence.
