Sophia looked at the man standing before her, emotions swirling inside her. After everything they'd been through, she had
changed—and so had Robin.
He was more considerate now, gentler than he'd ever been, but it was all happening when she no longer needed him to be.
Robin's voice was low, tinged with regret. “What Diana did afterwards was absolutely insane. | made it clear to her a long tago
—told her | didn’t love her, that we'd never be together. That night was a mistake.”
He laced his fingers together, tension in every movement. “She askedfor money, and | thought that once she'd taken it, we'd

Sophia spoke quietly, “She probably thought that after that night, she had a claim on you. When she realized you didn’t want to be
with her, she must have grown resentful.”
Robin's frustration was plain. “If she had a problem with me, she could've taken it out on me. Why did she have to drag you into
it?”
Sophia let out a short, bitter laugh. “Maybe it just means she really loved you.”
Robin paused, caught off guard, and slowly shook his head. “I don’t love her. After everything she’s done, there's no way | could
ever be with her.”
He took a breath, struggling to steady himself, then continued. “Sophia, I've done a lot of thinking lately—about how we began,
about everything that happened between us. | realized the problems all started with me. Maybe you were already disappointed in
“| remember how upset you were when | kept looking after Diana. | thought you were just being unreasonable. But when you
started seeing Jason, | finally understood how you must have felt seeingwith her.”
“| was always so focused on thepany, on chasing one project after another. | never took the tto think about us, to think
about what you needed. | really wasn’t a very good boyfriend.”
Sophia smiled faintly. “At least you learned something from it. | used to admire you so much, used to chase after you because |
liked you. Later, | was too quick to believe what other people said and ended up misunderstanding you—I said spretty harsh
things. I've always felt sorry about that. | hope you won't take it too much to heart.”
Robin looked at her, hope flickering in his eyes. “And now? Now that you know it was a misunderstanding, do you... still have
feelings for me?”
Sophia's gaze was steady. “I told you before—our breakup had nothing to do with that.”
