Sophia leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to Jason's cheek. “Jason, that day | met with Robin because he and another classmate
invitedto a reunion. | turned them down. It wasn’t what the photo made it look like—Tina took that picture without me
knowing, sent it to Diana, and Diana’s trying to stir up trouble between us.”
Jason's frown softened at her initiative. “Tina? The one who's always around you?”
She nodded. “Yeah. Diana paid her off.” Sophia hesitated, then continued, “After Diana’s whole schfell apart, | did meet with
Robin once. We talked everything through. | told him | wasn’t going back, and he promised not to contactanymore. He also
askedthe squestion you once did.”

Sophia met his eyes. “He asked me, if during those ten years, he'd confessed tolike you did, and | had to choose one of you—
knowing I'd lose the other—who would | pick?”
Jason searched her face. “And what did you tell him?”
She held his gaze. “I said I'd choose you. | could go without a boyfriend, but I couldn't go without you.”
Maybe it was at that moment, answering Robin, that she finally understood how she really felt about Jason, and becabsolutely
certain about their future together.
Jason's eyes widened, stunned by her confession.
Sophia's expression grew even more earnest. “Do you see now how much you mean to me?”
She kissed him again, her words and actions filled with quiet devotion. “I want to be with you. I'm sure of it now. It's not out of
gratitude or obligation. It's just... | could lose anyone else, but | can’t lose you.”
She hadn't said “I love you,” but for Jason, it was the clearest declaration she could have made. The anxiety twisting inside him
finally eased. He cupped her face and kissed her back, fiercely.
It had been days since they'd seen each other, and Jason had missed her more than he could stand. Before he undid her blouse, he
rasped, “Are you hungry? Should we eat first?”
Sophia's reply was barely more than a whisper. “Can you wait?”
Jason didn’t want to wait. “Then we'll eat later.”
Sophia nodded, just once, and that was all it took. There was no reason to hold back anymore.
Outside, the garden villas were wrapped in silence as night fell. Spring had finally arrived, carrying warmth in the air. Somewhere, a
child with golden hair darted across a lawn, laughter ringing out—faint and sweet, carried in on the breeze and slipping softly
through the window.
