Old Mr. Quintin immediately glanced toward the door. “Where is he?” he asked.
“He went upstairs. He'll be down in a minute,” Sophia replied.
A beat passed before realization dawned on him. “Are you and Jason together now?”
A faint blush crept up Sophia’s neck as she nodded. “What do you think?”
Old Mr. Quintin burst out laughing and gave her forehead a gentle tap. “You, my dear, finally figured it out!”

“I've known how Jason feels for ages, but youpletely oblivious! Good. Very good. Now | can relax.” His gaze softened with
contentment. “At last, Jason's kindness hasn't gone unappreciated.”
Sophia couldn't help a touch of smugness. “He really is wonderful to me.”
“I'm glad you know it. Just remember to treat Jason well, too—don’t always be so headstrong!” Old Mr. Quintin advised, his tone
gentle but earnest.
“Of course, how could | ever disobey you?” Sophia tilted her head, flashing a mischievous smile.
He grinned from ear to ear. “If you were always this obedient, I'd live another ten years for sure!”
“Don’t worry—you'll be with us for ages yet,” Sophia assured him.
They laughed and teased each other for a while. Suddenly, Sophia sniffed the air. “I think | smell beef. I'm starving! I'm going to
ask Betty to dishup a bowl before it cools off.”
“Go ahead, go ahead. If you're hungry, eat first,” Old Mr. Quintin chuckled.
The tempting aroma lured Sophia away. Without another word, she hurried off to the kitchen for her helping of beef.
A few minutes later, Jason cin. “Father,” he greeted quietly.
Old Mr. Quintin looked up, his expression kind and warm. “Feeling happy now, are you?”
