Magdalen climbed into the car and immediately called Estelle. The phone rang until it was nearly about to go to voicemail before
Estelle finally picked up. “What is it?”
Magdalen sounded frustrated. “I got so caught up in things that |pletely lost track of time. | didn’t interrupt you and Jonathan,
did I?”
Estelle’s voice was a little hoarse. “Just tellwhat's going on.”
Magdalen couldn't help laughing, but after the chuckle, worry crept across her face. “I just ran into Sylvia outside 9th Mansion. She
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtwas with Mr. Winters, and they looked pretty close.”
Estelle and Magdalen knew each other too well; she immediately understood what Magdalen was getting at. Her tone grew more
serious. “Magdalen, Sylvia has every right to choose who she wants to be with.”
Magdalen hesitated before replying, “I know, | just— It's hard forto accept. The two of them seemed perfect together, and |
really believe Gab has feelings for Sylvia too.”
Estelle’s voice was calm. “My brother's sense of responsibility toward Silver Valley has always outweighed his feelings. Sylvia
knows this. If he neveres back, is she supposed to just wait for him forever?”
Magdalen sighed, regretful. “You're right. | get it.”
Estelle asked, “You didn’t give Sylvia, or Mr. Winters, a hard time, did you?”
“Of course not Sylvia, but | was a bit prejudiced. | guess | blamed Eugene foring between her and Gab, so | was a little cold to
him,” Magdalen admitted honestly.
Estelle’s voice was quiet. “Don’t do that next time. Don’t put Sylvia in a tough spot.”
Magdalen exhaled. “Alright, | won't.”
“You heading home?” Estelle asked.
“On the way.” Magdalen slumped against Morrison's shoulder. “Go see Jonathan. I'm hanging up now.”
“Okay.”
Magdalen put down her phone, but something weighed heavily on her, darkening her expression.
Morrison looked up and gently cupped her chin. “Estelle’s right. If you care about Sylvia, then be there for her, look after her. But
don’t try to manage her love life.”
Magdalen took his hand, toying with the wedding band on his finger. “I can’t help feeling upset.”
