Jonathan rose to his feet, looking down at Lambert. “Frankly, | will never ive you for selling Ella out. But she considers you a
friend, so | will treat you as one. If you are here to attend our wedding and offer your blessings, you are wee. If you have other
intentions, letbe clear: whether it’s in J City or Tripe, | call the shots.”

Jonathan was left utterly bewildered. What on earth was he talking about? Did the Brennan family not test for intelligence when

Back in the private room, the appetizers had arrived. They sat down to eat, the atmosphere even more strained than before.
Thanks to Estelle’s earlier warning, however, there were no more arguments.
During the meal, only Lambert spoke, praising the local cuisine and mentioning that his maternal grandmother used to cook dishes
from this country, so he had grown up with them.
“Mr. Brennan's fiancée is from Y Country, isn’t she?” Jonathanmented. “Perhaps you should get more accustomed to their
food.”
“Linda and | have called off our engagement,” Lambert stated.
“| see,” Jonathan nodded knowingly. “But from what | hear, the next fiancée your father has chosen for you is also from Y Country's
royal family.”
Lambert's face darkened, and he said no more.
Estelle kept her head down, a small smile playing on her lips as she focused on her food
