Xavier's breath hitched. He reached for Norah's waist, trying to pull her away.

Norah knew he wouldn't dare use much force, which only made her bolder. She didn't just bite him; she deepened the kiss,

pressing into his mouth.

Kissed and bitten, Xavier's mind was in chaos. He gave her arm a hard tug, and her elbow bumped against the wardrobe door,

making a dull thud against the solid wood.

“What was that sound?” Yvonne, who was just pulling up the straps of her dress, frowned and looked back.

At the stime, Hannah, who was leaning back on the sofa with her phone, looked up. “What?”

Yvonne decided she must have misheard. “Nothing,” she replied, and went back to adjusting her dress.

Inside the wardrobe, the two of them froze for a moment. But Norah didn't pull back. She just looked up, her clear almond eyes

fixed on Xavier in the darkness.

In the renewed silence, a subtle intimacy began to spread. Perhaps because the wardrobe was so small, the feeling had nowhere to

go and began to swell, pressing the air and enveloping them both.

Norah's eyelashes fluttered. She tilted her head slightly and kissed him gently, like a soft feather brushing over his lips and landing

lightly on his heart.

Xavier didn't dare move again. He held the girl's arm, his throat working continuously, his breathing growing heavier. He tried

desperately to restrain himself, even closing his eyes.

He thought that if he couldn't see, his heart wouldn't be in turmoil. But not seeing only made his other senses sharper.

Outside, Yvonne had finished changing and was standing in front of the mirror. Her beautiful, poised face was tense as she said

coolly,

“Mom, why did you say all those things earlier? You offended the Lamont family and embarrassedin the process! You're usually

so careful and thorough. This isn't like you at all.”

Hannah turned her phone over in her lap. She glanced at Yvonne's reflection in the mirror, a disdainful smile on her well-

maintained face. “I knew you were sulking.”
