Old Mr. Jarvis, smiling broadly, looked around. "Where's Kya? Why didn't shee?"
Emily replied with her usual gentle grace, "Kya's with her father. They should have arrived in C City by now, staying at the estate."
Magdalen chimed in, "Kya's the flower girl, Grandpa. You'll see her tomorrow."
"Good, good!" Old Mr. Jarvis nodded repeatedly.
Sophia Jones walked over, hands clasped behind her back, and teased, "Mr. Jarvis, are you only thinking of Kya and not your dear
Sophia?"
Old Mr. Jarvis pointed at her and said to Old Mr. Quintin, "Look at this. She's about to get married and she's stillpeting with a

Old Mr. Quintin, his face wreathed in smiles, added affectionately, "What can you do? She may be all grown up, but she's still a
child at heart."
The room filled with laughter.
Evelyn laughed along with them, but her eyes held a cool glint as she glanced at Sophia.
After smore conversation, Estelle led Magdalen and the others to their rooms in the backyard, while Old Mr. Jarvis continued
chatting with Old Mr. Quintin.
Old Mr. Jarvis suggested Evelyn go join the younger women, thinking she'd have more inmon with them.
Evelyn declined, "I don't know Ms. Sampson and the others very well. I'd rather stay here and keep Grandpa and Mr. Jarvis
Old Mr. Jarvis didn't press the issue. He turned to Old Mr. Quintin. "I spoke with Gia Quintin on the phone this morning. She's
alsoing to Estelle's wedding tomorrow."
Old Mr. Quintin's hand trembled as he held his teacup, and he looked up at once. "Vivian ising too?"
Old Mr. Jarvis nodded. "She's been in C City for a while, teaching a class for schildren. She said she plans to return to J City
after her course finishes and, while she's at it, get the DNA test done with Evelyn."
Old Mr. Quintin's eyes lit up with excitement. "The DNA test can wait. What matters is that she'sing back."
He then looked at Evelyn. "Evelyn, you'll finally get to meet your mother tomorrow!"
Recalling the woman's indifferent and distant voice on the phone, Evelyn felt a wave of apprehension. "What if... what if Mom
doesn't like me?"
Old Mr. Quintin reassured her, "How could she not? She loved you so much. She must be desperate to see you!"
