Chapter 861 Why Do I Seem to Be Worse Off Than Joe?

Coincidentally, at this moment, Joe walked over with a plate of small cakes. He

looked at the lively group and handed the cake to Charlotte.

Enter title…

“What are you all talking about? Looks like you’re having a good time,” Joe

inquired.

Lena suppressed a smile and shook her head, saying, “Nothing much, just some

casual conversation.”

The more nonchalant Lena appeared the more suspicious Joe became.

However, he also understood that they didn’t intend to tell him and didn’t want to

press further.

As everyone enjoyed their food and drinks, Trevor joined them. “I heard your

memory hasn’t fully recovered yet. You wouldn’t forget me, would you?” he

teased.

Charlotte innocently looked at him.

Trevor immediately realized and muttered, “Why do I seem to be worse off than

Joe?”

He solemnly extended a hand toward Charlotte and said, “I’m Trevor, the best

man you’ve met this past year. Just a little bit more, and the two of us would be

together…”

Before he could finish his sentence, a hand gripped his neck from behind. “Are

you pretending I don’t exist?”

Joe, with a cold smirk, looked at Trevor. He knew this man had been ambitious

all along, unwilling to give up even now.

Trevor, undeterred, shrugged. “Strictly speaking, we are on the same starting line

now. Fair competition is not out of the question…”

Seeing the murderous intent in Joe’s eyes, Trevor knew that if he continued, he’d

be kicked out. He quickly threw a flirtatious look at Charlotte and walked away

briskly.

Only then did Joe sit next to Charlotte, holding a glass of wine.

“What he just said… don’t take it to heart,” Joe said, glancing nervously at

Charlotte. Although he knew Trevor wouldn’t threaten him, he couldn’t help but

offer a reminder.

Charlotte chuckled lightly.

She raised her glass toward Joe. “Don’t worry, I can distinguish even this.”

The two of them sat quietly under the moonlight. Even though they hadn’t spoken

a word, it seemed like they could read a thousand words in each other’s eyes.

At that moment, Trevor approached once again, holding two bottles of red wine in

his hand.

Joe’s sharp eyes recognized them as the two best bottles of wine in the entire

resort’s cellar.

Trevor had a good eye for choosing.

“Today, since everyone is in such a good mood, why don’t we just enjoy both of

these bottles of wine?” In a swift motion, Trevor handed the two bottles to the

waiter before Joe could object.

The waiter instinctively glanced at Joe, saw him nod, and then left with the wine.

In no time, the two bottles of red wine were brought in decanters, and each took

a glass. They began to talk about the various interesting events that had

happened over the past year.

Even though Charlotte couldn’t recall these memories as they described them, it

felt like she had experienced them firsthand. Unknowingly, she had drunk a lot of

red wine with them.

Her face flushed, and she slumped onto Joe’s back, her eyes gently closed. It

was unclear if she had fallen asleep or not.

“Who would have thought that losing her memory would also weaken her alcohol

tolerance?”

Lena, the only one present who didn’t drink, taunted Charlotte’s alcohol

consumption.

Joe carefully lifted her onto his back. He looked at the others and said, “You all

know this place well, so no need for introductions. She’s quite drunk now, so I’ll

take her back…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Trevor chuckled, “Who doesn’t know that

you won’t be returning once you leave? Why bother with such grandiose words?”
