Chapter 174 Kelvin Awakens Leaning in closer, Grandpa Davis made out Kelvin murmuring, "Penelope." "Who's Penelope?" Grandpa Davis was puzzled, then realized, "Could it be Penelope?!" The butler nodded, "Yes. The only word Mr. Davis has uttered during his unconscious state has been 'Penelope."" Evidently, no one else was more fitting.

After a moment of contemplation, Grandpa Davis conceded, "Fine, let Penelope come." The butler was overjoyed.

"However," Grandpa Davis added sternly, "the moment Kelvin wakes, she must leave. That's all!" Lily frowned, shooting a glare at the butler.

At the King Manor, Penelope stood by the window, gazing out at the sky.

Three days they had passed, how cKelvin had not woken up yet? His injury was just to his arm, and he had received a blood transfusion immediately. He should've cby now.

Regrettably unable to be by Kelvin's side, made her anxious.

Suddenly, a car rolled in. A bodyguard rushed in, and called out, "Mrs. Davis." Penelope spun around, "What is it? Has Kelvin woken up?" The bodyguard informed, "The old man has agreed to let you go to the hospital to be with Mr. Davis." "Really?!" Penelope's eyes sparkled, "Yes, I'll head there right now!" Overjoyed and at a loss for words, she hurried out, not wanting to waste a single second.

Penelope rushed to Kelvin's ward, finding only the butler there.

"Mrs. Davis, you've arrived," the butler said, relieved.

"Yes!" she nodded, "How's Kelvin doing?" He informed her, "His vitals are improving, but he won't wake up." Penelope sat by the hospital bed, her palm gently covering the back of his hand. She dared not move too much, afraid to touch his wounds.

"Penelope..." Kevin murmured in his slumber.

"I'm here, I'm right here," Penelope responded immediately, "Please wake up, will you?" Witnessing this, the butler quietly exited the ward, leaving space for the two of them. In truth, Mrs. Davis was Mr. Davis's best medicine.

Kevin's eyes fluttered, "Penelope, Penelope." He kept calling her name, and she kept answering. Responding to one another.

Women are attentive and caring. With a warm washcloth, Penelope tenderly wiped Kevin's body and moistened his lips with a cotton swab dipped in warm water.

In quiet moments, she would talk to him. "Look, the sun's shining so brightly today. If you wake up, I could take you out to enjoy it.

"Your hand will be fine; it's sure to heal. And even if... if it doesn't work like before, no worries, I'll be your left hand.

"Kevin, you're such a proud man; can you accept being incomplete? "I just remembered, when I jumped into the lake, you sat by my bedside. Were you also rambling, waiting for my eyes to open?" Sometimes, Penelope didn't even know what she was saying.

The day turned to night. She grabbed a quick bite and was about to wash her face when she heard Kevin call out to her again, "Penelope, Penelope..." "I'm here." This time, after her response, Kevin's fingers twitched faintly. Penelope saw it clearly. She rushed to him, "Kevin, Kevin, look at me. I'm safe; I'm okay. Don't you want to see for yourself?" "Con, wake up. Everyone's waiting for you, especially me," she urged. Under Penelope's earnest gaze, Kevin's eyes slowly opened. He was awake! Planning your weekend reading? She could only reach out and frantically press the nurse call button, signaling for the doctor to cquickly.

Kevin's gaze drifted, fixating on the sterile white ceiling. Soon, the doorway was bustling with footsteps as caregivers and the Davis rushed in.

"Quick, Mr. Davis is awake!" "Check the monitors, the heartbeat." "Kevin, you finally woke up. You had us worried sick!" A cacophony of noise filled the ward. But Kevin was straining to hear one voice in particular... the one who kept saying, "I'm here." 'I'm here... I'm here...' Where had the one who should have been here gone? Kelvin tilted his head slightly, scanning the faces gathered around the hospital bed. His Grandfather, Lily, the butler, and the caregivers were present, but Penelope's figure was absent.

Where was she? His gaze swept over them, a profound sense of disappointment unfolding in his eyes. Was it all a dream? A hallucination? Had Penelope never been there at all? Kelvin closed his eyes again, his brow furrowed deeply. "Penelope..." he whispered.

At this moment, Penelope found herself pushed to the very edge of the crowd. Enclosed by a sea of bodies, she couldn't see Kelvin's condition, nor could she hear his faint voice.

He was awake.

That meant she was no longer needed here.

She thought that Grandpa Davis would likely confine her back within the walls of The King Manor.

Penelope watched their backs with a sense of loss, longing for the moment when Kelvin would open his eyes and see her first. Since she was the one he'd risked everything to save. Seeing her, he'd surely feel at peace.

But with so many people, she couldn't squeeze through.

Penelope stood silently in place, just waiting.

Finally, the lead doctor let out a sigh of relief. "Mr. Davis is all clear, om completely out of danger. However, his arm injury is severe; it'll need at least six months to heal properly," he informed. "Will it impact his life later on?" Grandpa Davis asked.

"Not if he takes proper care," the doctor replied. "He shouldn't liftm heavy weights or engage in any strenuous activities with that arm for a couple of years." "That's good news," Grandpa Davis said, relieved.

Just then, a raspy, dry voice cut through the silence, "Where's Penelope?" Kelvin's voice sounded torn, but he managed to speak the four words completely.

'Where was Penelope?' he wondered, frantically. 'I needed to see her'.

Grandpa Davis seemed taken aback. "Kelvin, you just woke up. Lie down, your hand-" But Kelvin cut him off, insisting, "Where's Penelope?" His gaze sharpened as he turned it towards the butler standing aside.

Penelope would never miss being at the hospital. Unless... she didn't care.

His last memories were of the kidnapping; he had no idea how long he'd been unconscious or what Penelope's current situation was.

She had been safe then, but the wound on her cheek ached him dearly!

"Mrs. Davis is right there, Mr. Davis," the butler said, turning and pointing outside the room. "She was just squeezed out by the crowd a moment ago." Kelvin looked up.

His eyes met Penelope's.

Silently, they held each other's gaze, no words spoken.

Yet, in each other's eyes, they saw reflections of themselves. A single look can convey love.

"Chere," Kelvin said slowly, cutting straight to the point.
