Agnes woke up bright and early, only to find Jared missing from her side.
He was definitely there last night
A nurse came in to change Agnes’s medication and check her temperature.

Agnes smiled. “Tm not that bad off, it’s just a superficial injury. I can be discharged by noon.”
Jared’s face took on a shadowed expression. “This situation isn’t as straightforward as you believe. I’m determined
to uncover who’s orchestrating this against you, and they won’t escape consequences.”

someone’s employment.”
A chill ran down Agnes’s spine. “Who could it be?”
She tried to fathom who would harbor such a vendetta against her. The previous night’s events played in her mind,
and she shuddered at the thought of what might have been her fate had things not changed
Jared’s face tightened with anger. “They haven’t identified anyone specific. The only description they have is of a
woman in her twenties. She apparently offered them five thousand dollars upfront to harm you and document it. If
they had succeeded in their mission, she promised them an additional ten thousand
As he spoke, Jared’s hand was already clenched into a fist.
He couldn’t believe that someone would set Agnes up like this.
Just thinking about it made him feel murderous.
