Once Agnes stepped foot into the hotel, she made a beeline for the elevator.
She had been prepping for today, the day she planned to take Nocturne away.
She had Nate hack into the control system of Caesar International Hospital from afar.
And today, the hospital’s surveillance system was on the fritz.
The tech department of Caesar International Hospital was scrambling to troubleshoot.
But Agnes knew that Nate’s hacking chops wasn’t something you could just fix up easily.
Jared’s engagement party was set up in the banquet hall at the top of the building.
Agnes stopped at the top floor, but didn’t head to the banquet hall.
She took the fire escape straight to the rooftop.

Agnes walked to a suitable spot and pulled out a pair of binoculars.
From her spot, she could see everything happening in the banquet hall through the floor–to–ceiling windows.
The banquet hall wasn’t far from where she was, just a hallway about a hundred meters long.
Agnes took a look around with her binoculars, there was no sign of Jared.
But she did spot Valeria, dressed in a champagne–colored gown, which was simple yet elegant.

She went through the long hallway. The hallway was crowded, but nobody paid her much mind.
Agnes quietly pushed open the door to the lounge.
Lucky for her, there was no one else in the room.
Nocturne hadn’t drifted off to sleep yet, but he was obviously worn out.
Sitting on the sofa, he looked ready to nod off.
Agnes immediately walked over and called out softly, “Noc.”
Nocturne lifted his head, and his eyes lit up as soon as he saw it was Agnes, “Mom.”
