Angeline was snapped out of her train of thought when Evander returned from the stall with the roasted chestnuts

in hand.

“Here you go,” he said in a somewhat annoyed tone.

I would never have queued up in such a noisy crowd if it weren’t for her!

A taxi happened to pull up beside them at the time.

Angeline flagged that taxi down and said with an apologetic look on her face, “Sorry, but I have something urgent

to take care of. You two can go on home without me.”

She then turned around, hopped into the taxi, and sped off before Evander could even respond.

The look in Evander’s eyes grew cold as he watched the taxi disappear from sight.

Floretta tugged on his arm and said worriedly, “Daddy, Angel left because she got a call from a guy. She might be in

danger. We should go after her!”

Evander frowned slightly upon hearing that.

His tone sounded a little impatient as he said, “There’s no need for that. She has to take responsibility for her own

actions. Come on, let’s go home.”

Although Angeline didn’t say where she was going, Evander could tell from her panicked expression that it had

something to do with Hanson.

So, she’s going to meet Hanson, huh? Why would she be in such a hurry to meet him this late at night? No, this

won’t do. I can’t just sit around and do nothing while the two of them get together!

Noticing the worried look in Floretta’s eyes, Evander held her hand and headed toward the underground parking

lot.

Meanwhile, Angeline had just gotten out of the taxi in front of Charming Temptation.

There were rows upon rows of fancy cars parked nearby, and she could hear the deafeningly loud music from

outside the entrance.

It was the most luxurious bar in all of Hallsbay.

Angeline had been there a couple of times when she first entered the entertainment industry, but she stopped

going there because she hated the shady environment.

Colorful lights were shining all over the dance floor as young men and women danced the night away. It was so

disorienting that Angeline struggled just to find her way around.

After asking a few of the staff, she finally found the private room that Hanson was in. The stench of alcohol flooded

her nose the moment she opened the door.

It was so nauseating that Angeline coughed a few times while entering the room. She shuddered instinctively when

her gaze fell upon Hanson, who was completely drunk on the couch.

Empty wine bottles were lying all over the table and floor.

Hanson has always been a sophisticated gentleman. I’ve never seen him let himself go like this. Just how much has

he been drinking?

Due to the dim lighting inside the private room, Angeline couldn’t see very well and knocked a glass bottle over

while making her way toward him.

Hanson woke up and sat bolt upright when he heard the loud clink of the glass bottle. There was a dazed look in his

eyes as he glanced at Angeline.

“You’re here!” he exclaimed in surprise.

Angeline maintained a cold expression as she stared him down.

“Yeah.”

Since he was already awake, there was no need for her to wake him up.

Angeline then set aside the bottle she had knocked over and sat in front of Hanson.

“Go on, then. Tell me what you know. I’m all ears,” she said calmly.

Hanson’s face was flushed as he had been drinking a lot. There was a longing look in his eyes when he stared at

her.

“When did you get here? What would you like to drink?” he asked nervously while rubbing his palms.

Hanson was about to summon a waiter when Angeline stopped him and said with an impatient frown, “I don’t drink.

I still have some business to take care of, so just tell me what I want to know.”

Hanson lowered his gaze and took a moment to regain his composure. He then whipped out a ring from his pocket

and placed it in front of her. The ring was black and golden.

“I overheard Joseline talking about this ring on the phone. She said she found it in the room where that incident

happened five years ago. I believe it has something to do with that man you’re looking for.”

Angeline quickly picked up the ring and examined it closely.

Although it didn’t remind her of anything, in particular, there was a brand name engraved on the inside of the ring.

She figured she would be able to track its owner down if she brought it to the store.

“Thanks,” Angeline said coldly.

Finally, some actually useful information! I’ve been searching for my child all this while, but to no avail. Oh, well… I

suppose finding the man who got me pregnant would be the next best thing. I suffered so much for so many years

because of him, so I have to sue him for what he did to me!

Hanson’s lips curled into a wry smile when he saw how distant Angeline was.

“There’s no need to thank me, Angeline. Do you still remember how close we used to be back in university?”

Angeline tightened her grip on the strap of her handbag when she heard that.

“You’ve had too much to drink. I don’t think we’ll be able to discuss anything today.”

She then put the ring into her handbag and made her way toward the door.

Hanson has always been so busy with his career and his family that he never brought up our past. If anything, he

acts as though we are complete strangers, so I have no obligation to reminisce about the past with him now.

With that in mind, Angeline maintained an icy-cold expression as she reached for the door handle.

There was a hint of sadness in Hanson’s eyes when he saw how cold she was being.

He then ran up to her and grabbed her by the arm as he said, “Angeline, I know you still hate me for what I did back

then, but I’ve been conducting my own investigation throughout the past few years. Joseline accused you of some

really shameless acts, but I don’t believe her!”

“Hanson!” Angeline looked up at him and let out a wry chuckle as she continued, “Are you saying that you’ve been

with Joseline for a few years just to help find out the truth?”

Hanson’s expression tensed up slightly when he heard that. “Angeline…”

“Don’t say my name!” Angeline shouted coldly.

As the two of them were very close to each other, Hanson was able to get a good look into Angeline’s eyes.

She looked a lot different from the pure and innocent girl she used to be. Hanson found himself getting attracted by

the person that Angeline had become.

“I’ve never given up on you, Angeline.”

Angeline’s lips curled into a sarcastic smile after she heard that. She placed her hands against his chest and shoved

him off with all her might.

“Forget it, Mr. Yiurk!”

Not only did Angeline feel no affection toward Hanson whatsoever, but she also regretted falling for his sweet lies

back then.

Not wanting to waste another second with him, Angeline reached for the door again.

This time, Hanson grabbed her wrists and pinned her arms above her head.

“Hey! Let go of me!” Angeline screamed in pain and panic.
