Chapter 225

“Okay. Thank you…” she said in a hoarse voice.

Evander ordered Sylas to get into the car, turn on the air conditioner, and drive them to the hospital.

Angeline wasn’t at her best. She was still in her evening dress, and her exquisite makeup had been ruined by tears.

Seeing this, plenty of onlookers stared at her blatantly, some even whipping out their phones to take photos of her.

Evander’s face darkened as he gave Sylas a look.

The latter immediately instructed the guards at the entrance to stop the onlookers from taking photos of Angeline

and delete all her pictures from their gallery.

Meanwhile, Angeline, on the verge of tears, hitched up the hem of her dress and went up the stairs.

Joseline and the nurse were the only ones standing in front of the operating room. Joseline was crying so hard that

she was gasping for air.

She sounded so sad that some would have thought she was truly heartbroken over the death of her grandfather.

The doctor pushed Wilfred’s body out of the operating theater just as Angeline reached the door.

Joseline immediately threw herself at the gurney as if she had gone mad. Kneeling on the floor, she began to sob

uncontrollably.

“Grandpa, how could you leave me behind like this? Sorelle Group needs you, but you left it all behind. What am I

going to do without you?”

Her crying was so realistic that Angeline would have been moved by her tears if she didn’t know the truth.

Scoffing, Angeline took a deep breath and stared at the ceiling as her heart raced.

The grief she felt from losing a loved one was so intense that she couldn’t even cry.

“Go bid Old Mr. Sorelle farewell.”

Just then, Evander placed a warm hand on her shoulder and reminded her softly.

At his words, Angeline moved and made her way toward Wilfred in a daze.

Overwhelmed by grief, she felt dizzy and nauseous as she knelt on the floor and stared at the white cloth.

“Rest in peace, Grandpa…” she mumbled as her heart ached terribly.

“Angeline, how dare you show up?”

Joseline glared at her with puffy red eyes. She shouted angrily, “Grandpa’s condition wouldn’t have deteriorated so

quickly if not for you! What are you doing here? Trying to attract the media’s attention, are you? Aah!”

A sharp pain shot through her arm before she could finish.

“Watch your mouth. I don’t want to kick you out of the hospital at a time like this.”

Evander stared at her coldly. Joseline scowled in pain as he tightened his grip on her arm.

Meanwhile, Angeline gave no response, as if she had blocked out the noise. She reached out shakily and pulled the

white cloth covering Wilfred’s face away, only to see Wilfred looking deathly pale as he lay on the gurney quietly.

Angeline’s heart sank as her hands trembled. After a few moments, she covered his face with the white cloth again.

At that moment, tears flowed down her cheeks, and she felt as if a piece of her was missing as the grief came

crashing down.

She had a hard time expressing herself even though she had many things to say.

Joseline stared at her coldly. A wicked smile formed on her lips as she started to show her true colors.

“Angeline, stop it with your act. Everything in the Sorelle family belongs to me now. You lost even though you’ve

been fighting with me for so long.”

Angeline stood up and faced Joseline upon her words. In the next instant, she raised her hand and landed a tight

slap on Joseline’s face.

Smack!

The hard slap left Joseline disoriented.

Joseline was stunned as she didn’t have time to dodge. Teary-eyed, she opened her mouth in disbelief.

“You… How dare you slap me!”

Angeline became even more infuriated at those words and started to slap her vehemently.

Joseline tried to fight back. However, she couldn’t do anything as her face grew red and swollen from the slaps

since Evander maintained a tight grip on her arm.

Eventually, Joseline broke down and shouted hysterically, “Angeline, you’re going to rot in hell for this! Grandpa’s

soul is still around. How dare you hit me in front of him?”

“I’m hitting you in Grandpa’s place.” Angeline glared at her coldly. “You know better than me what caused the

deaths of Dad, Mom, and Grandpa. Are you still trying to play dumb?”

At that, Joseline paled before she started to babble incoherently.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Don’t you dare accuse me of something I never did!”

“Look at me!” Angeline ordered.

She pinched Joseline’s chin and forced the latter to meet eyes with her.

“How could you forget what you have done so quickly? Should I give you a tip to spark that memory of yours? Do

you still remember Delroy Quast?”

Joseline was at a loss for words.

Her body went limp, and her eyes slowly lost focus. However, she quickly came to her senses, gritted her teeth, and

pretended to look lost.

“Who’s that?”

Angeline knew she would deny it, but she felt good seeing Joseline feel guilty.

“It’s okay. I can bring him over to introduce him to you someday,” Angeline replied casually.

However, her tone of voice managed to send chills down one’s spine.

“I’ll make you pay for all the wicked things you’ve done.”

Angeline left the hospital with Evander after that.

Joseline couldn’t handle the pressure from Angeline’s words as her hands trembled and her knees went weak.

She thought she had hidden the truth about the incident well enough that no one would ever find out.

How in the world did Angeline find out? What did I do wrong?

Wilfred was given a shockingly grand funeral. One could say that it was the grandest funeral ever held among the

socialites in Hallsbay.

It even brought the entire Sorelle family together as many of the Sorelles’ long-lost relatives attended to pay their

respect.

Hanson and Joseline, dressed in mourning clothes, busied themselves around the mourning hall.

The guests felt relieved when they saw how loving those two were as a couple and complimented them.

“Joseline has grown into such a beautiful young lady. She even married into the Yiurk family and found herself such

a good husband. I envy her.”

Joseline held onto Hanson’s arm and replied softly, “Thank you for attending Grandpa’s funeral, everyone. Even

though he has left this world, I’ll maintain the rights he gave you.”

Gratified smiles bloomed on the guests’ faces upon her words.

“Okay. What a thoughtful child you are!”
