Chapter 289

The look on Angelinas face turned extremely gloomy when she saw who it was.

Olivine!

She was not expecting to run into Olivine so soon.

The latter looked as though she had just woken up with her dark green spaghetti-strap nightgown and her slightly

curly hair resting on her shoulders. However. Angeline noticed that she had put a lot of effort into her makeup.

Did Evander let her move into the Golding residence so soon?

Olivine gleefully arched an eyebrow at Angeline when she saw her.

“All, you're here? Evander told me last night that you'd be coming over. I know we had our differences, but the

Golding family treats all guests with respect. Come on in!” she said while fanning herself with a folding fan.

Huh... She's already acting like she's the lady of the house here... Also, did she really have to emphasize the words

“last night”?

Angeline clenched her fists and tried her best to maintain a calm expression as she suppressed her jealousy and

pain.

“I'm just here to pay Floretta a visit. I'll be leaving in the afternoon.”

Olivine let out a sarcastic chuckle as she said, “Come on. there's no need to rush! Evander told me to welcome you

with the wannest hospitality. After all, you are going to cook for us!”

Angeline frowned when she heard the insult.

I'm only here to visit Floretta, so I don't want to start a fight with Olivine here.

With that in mind. Angeline took a deep breath to recompose herself before retrieving a box of cake from the car.

She then brought the box, which was designed like an animal, over to Floretta.

It wasn't until Angeline got closer that she saw how skinny Floretta's face had gotten. On top of that, she seemed a

lot less cheerfill than usual.

“Angel...” Floretta called out to her with a pout.

Angeline felt as though she had been hit in the chest with a sledgehammer. Her eyes teared up a little as she gently

caressed Floretta's cheek.

“Hey, Floretta. You haven't been eating well, have you? How are they treating you?”

Floretta instinctively stole a glance at Olivine before nodding profusely as she replied, “Yeah, Daddy has been

treating me really well. I just miss you and Sebastian, that's all.”

Despite what she said, Angeline had noticed the look of fear in her eyes and her unnatural tone of voice.

With a frown on her face. Angeline quickly rolled up Floretta's sleeves, only to breathe a sigh of relief when she saw

no bruises or wounds whatsoever.

Even so, Angeline still remained on high alert as she knew Floretta was clearly unhappy.

She then handed Floretta the cake and said with a smile, “Here you go, Floretta. I made you your favorite cake. Go

share it with Sebastian while I prepare lunch. I'll let you two know when it's ready.”

“Okay!”

Floretta nodded and flashed her a huge smile.

“Floretta, didn't I tell you not to accept food from strangel's? We don't know if it's clean!” Olivine called out to her in

a high- pitched voice.

The look of displeasure in her eyes scared Floretta so much that her hands began trembling in fear.

“It's fine. Floretta. Go on.”

Angeline gave her a reassuring pat on the shoulder and motioned for her to leave with Sebastian.

She then waited until the two kids were indoors before shooting Olivine an icy-cold glare.

“I made that cake with margarine and purely organic ingredients, so it's safe to consume. Some people, however,

have hearts which are rotten to the core.”

Olivine jabbed a finger at Angeline and yelled angrily, “Hey! What do you mean by that? Are you talking to me.

Angeline?”

“I'm warning you. I saw how depressed Floretta was. You'd better treat her well, or I will come after you even if

you're married to Evander!” Angeline snapped back at her with a menacing look in her eyes.

At that very moment, Angeline was exuding such a terrifying aura that it left Olivine petrified for a good few

minutes.

By the time she snapped out of her dazed state, Angeline had already made her way into the Golding residence.

Olivine's face was red as she stomped her feet in anger and frustration.

F*ck! I'm the lady of the Golding residence, not her! How dare Angeline act all arrogant even though she has lost to

me?

The first thing Angeline did upon entering the Golding residence was to check on the kids on the second floor.

Feeling relieved when she saw them sharing the cake in the playroom, she went into the kitchen, put on an apron,

and started preparing lunch.

“Ms. Sorelie? Why didn't you tell me you were coming over? I could take care of the cooking for you,” Francesca,

who was just done watering the plants, exclaimed in surprise when she came in.

Angeline flashed her a faint smile as she replied, “That won't be necessary. I came here specifically to make

Floretta lunch because I want to cheer her up.”

“That's very thoughtfill of you, Ms. Sorelle. If only you were the one looking after Ms. Floretta instead...” Francesca

said with a sob.

Angeline tensed up the moment she heard that.

“Did something happen, Francesca? Is Olivine mistreating Floretta? Please let me know if that's the case, and I'll

take care of it.”

“I... Well. Ms. Floretta is...”

Francesca was about to say something when Olivine opened the front door with a loud bang.

Like a bird that had just been startled. Francesca said with a panicked look on her face. “Please stop asking me

about this, Ms. Sorelle. Here, I'll help bring you the plates...”

Angeline furrowed her brows when she saw Francesca's response.

Judging by Floretta's and Francesca's reactions, it's clear as day that life hasn't been great for them. In fact,

Francesca looks like she has been threatened into keeping quiet about it. If that's the case, then what could a mere

defenseless child like Floretta do to protect herself?

Meanwhile, a black car had just pulled up inside the courtyard.

Sylas, who was sitting in the driver's seat, turned around and said respectfully, “We're here, Mr. Golding. I've

canceled all of your appointments for the afternoon, so you can spend the rest of the weekend with Ms. Floretta.”

“All right,” Evander mumbled as he closed the folder in his hand. “I had you investigate Joel the other day. Did you

manage to find anything?”

“Yes, I was just about to report my findings to you. Mr. Golding. I had someone investigate all the villagers on Linlow

Island. From the information we managed to gather, he's just a designer who excelled academically. His sister, Eve

Quinn, however, is a huge problem.”
