The name Thaddeus stabbed Evadne deep in her eyes, and her heart vibrated along.

“Should I answer the call?” Cas sius asked.

“Answer it!”

Cas sius calmly pressed the speakerphone, but didn’t rush to talk..

“President Ashbourne, is my wife with you?” Thaddeus’ voice asked h oars ely.

A rush of anger surged in Evadne, finding the word “wife” extremely annoying. “Mr. Frederic, watch

your words, I’m your ex-wife now.”

“Ilana, you really are with him.” Thaddeus’ voice dropped a few more degrees.

“What else? Do I have to stay at your house waiting to be kicked out?”

She was so sarcastic!

Thaddeus’ face darkened, “You shouldn’t be so hasty. Our divorce proceedings haven’t finished yet.

Without a divorce certificate, you are still my wife in name. You should consider the Abernathy family

and your own dignity.”

“You brought Acacia to live at Windermere Estate during our marriage and forced me to sign a divorce

agreement. Thaddeus, did you consider my dignity when you did these things?”

Evadne sneered, continuing. “You never considered my feelings, why should I care about the feelings

of the Abernathy family now? After all, I have given the position of the president’s wife to Acacia. Go

ask her for dignity!”

Cas sius raised an eyebrow, picked up a gla** of water and took a sip.

That’s the real Evadne, the timid little wife who had suffered in the Abernathy family for three years was

just an image she created for Thaddeus.

Although his sister was always perfect, he preferred the shocking, fearless girl.

Thankfully, she’s back.

“I don’t have time to argue with you now.” Thaddeus’ voice sounded tired, “Grandpa is sick, he’s in the

hospital now, he really wants to see you, he even refuses to take his medicine.”

Evadne’s heart clenched.

Even though she and Thaddeus had gone their separate ways, his grandpa had always been kind to

her during her three years in the Abernathy family. After the divorce, she could give up everything, but

she couldn’t leave the lovely old man who treated her like family.

“Is it at the Ashbourne group’s hospital? I get it, I’ll go see your grandpa right away.”

After hanging up the phone, Evadne sighed deeply, full of worry.

“Evadne, let me take you there.” Cas sius said softly.

“It’s okay, I’m going to see his grandpa, not to provoke him. If you take me there, it will only intensify the

conflict.”

Evadne waved her hand with a deep look in her eyes, “I’ll drive there myself.”

Hospital

Thaddeus and Gordon were standing outside Mr. Hamiltion’s ward.

Evadne hurried over, and although she hadn’t seen him for just a few days, she could tell at a glance

that the man had lost weight.

Why should she care about him? Whether he is fat or thin has nothing to do with her.

It’s so annoying!

It wasn’t until they heard the sound of her high heels that the two men looked at her at the same time.

They were both taken aback.

Especially Thaddeus, he could hardly believe that this was his ex-wife.

“Mr. Gordon, how is Mr. Hamiltion?” Evadne didn’t look at Thaddeus, only spoke to Gordon.

“Mrs. Abernathy, is that you?” Gordon was a bit stunned, asking a dumb question.

The lady in front of him had a beautiful face with delicate makeup, red lipstick, a black suit that made

her figure even more graceful, her legs longer, the red ruby butterfly brooch on her chest was

exceptionally dazzling, and her eyes were sparkling.

Evadne suddenly realized, she came in such a rush, she forgot to transform into the gentle Ilana in a

white dress and sneakers.

“Of course it’s me. What, don’t you like my new look?”

“Of course not! Your new look is much prettier than before! And you look more confident and

energetic.” Gordon said honestly.

“Really? Maybe it’s because I got divorced.”

Evadne smiled and said, “I crawled out of the predicament and saw the sun again, of course I’m

energetic.”

Thaddeus’ handsome face darkened a bit, feeling irritable, “If you think the past life was a predicament,

why did you stay with me for three years? I’ve said more than once, if you want to divorce, I can take

you to see my grandpa at any time, you don’t need to serve three years like a sentence.”

A wave of sorrow hit Evadne.

That’s Mr. Thaddeus, the woman he likes can’t be replaced, the woman he doesn’t like, no matter how

much she gives, he won’t give her a second glance.

She fell deeply in love with his cold and arrogant attitude, and fell into the ocean of deep affection,

Evadne looked back coldly, saw Acacia hurried over with Elspeth.

in the hospital. She barely managed to get some food down at lunch, but then she threw up…” Elspeth

looked at Acacia with sympathy.

“She threw up again?” Thaddeus looked worried.

“Acacia has been dealing with stomach issues. Stress triggers it. We’ve seen a bunch of doctors, but

while they say it’s nothing serious, they haven’t been able to cure it.” Elspeth sighed heavily.

“I’ll find a top doc for Acacia. If the treatment here doesn’t work, I’ll take her overseas.” Thaddeus said,

wrapping an arm around Acacia’s

waist.

Evadne snorted inwardly. She remembered her own struggles with her stomach issues, sweating

bullets, going to the hospital alone. Although she never told Thaddeus, he must have seen her weak

and pale, but he never showed any concern.

So, Thaddeus knew how to love after all.

Just not her.

Acacia leaned against Thaddeus, smirking at Evadne.

Hold on!

When did this woman get so beautiful?

And that butterfly brooch – wasn’t that the latest work by the famous designer Alea? Worth five

hundred thousand bucks!

How could this girl from the sticks afford such luxury? There’s no way she had that kind of money! That

jewelry must be fake!

“Thaddeus, why don’t you take Acacia with you to see your grandpa? She cried on the way here, she’s

really worried about him.” Elspeth urged, ignoring Evadne who had once cared for their family for three

years.

Yet, Evadne remained indifferent. If she didn’t care about Thaddeus, why would she care about his

lover?

Just then, the hospital room door opened and Mr. Hamilton’s secretary stepped out.

“Mr. Frederic sent me to check if his grandson and granddaughter-in-law have arrived.”

At this news, Acacia’s face froze with jealousy.

“Mr. Murray, I’m here.” Evadne stepped forward urgently.

“Mrs. Abernathy.” Mr. Murray gestured politely. “Mr. Frederic would like you and Mr. Thaddeus to come

in.”

Without another word, Evadne walked into the room.

Thaddeus’ lips tightened slightly before he followed her.

Acacia tried to follow but was stopped cold by Mr. Murray.

“I’m sorry, but Mr. Frederic has made it clear that he will not see anyone other than his grandson and

granddaughter-in-law. Please, go back.”
