Chapter 946

Could Dorothy really be her mother? That was a question still shrouded in uncertainty for Evadne. Acting

impulsively without thorough consideration could only spell more trouble.

"You've been running yourself ragged these days. Go get srest," Debby said, her eyes brimming with

concern and affection for her sister.

The Ashbourne family, with their genteel appearances, were at heart a clan of romantics-free-spirited and

fiercely independent. They pursued their happiness and dreams with a passion that knew no bounds. It was a

noble kind of selfishness.

Yet, it was Evadne, with her seemingly delicate frame, who had shouldered the mantle of the family successor.

She had willingly thrown herself into the tumultuous world of corporate battles to safeguard the Ashbourne

legacy and protect what her father had built.

Evadne possessed a blend of feminine gentleness, intelligence, beauty, and the masculine virtues of strength,

decisiveness, and valor in battle.

A true heir chosen by fate.

But not everyone had the courage or the strength to wear the heavy crown that cwith such responsibility.

At that moment, the study door opened, and Darcy stepped in.

"Darcy," Debby greeted him with a smile, her cheeks flushing with a girlish shyness despite years of marriage.

Darcy, taking in the tidy state of the study, sighed in guilt and quickly wrapped his arms around his wife. "I'm

sorry, the meeting ran longer than expected. | promised to help, and yet you ended up doing it all by yourself... It

won't happen again."

"It's no big deal," Debby said, her cheeks reddening further, a bit embarrassed to be displaying such affection in

front of her sister.

"Have you two finished your discussion?" Evadne asked, regaining her composure.

"Tomorrow, the presidential guard and the SWAT team will be on hand to assist in the operation against Avery

and his followers," Darcy stated, his eyes reflecting deep concern. "I've told Cassius and Thaddeus to stay out of

it to avoid any accidents, but they're insisting on being there to oversee the operation."

"Thaddeus won't just be overseeing; he'll be right in the thick of it," Evadne said, worry evident in her voice. No

one knew her man better than she did.

"They'll be wearing bulletproof vests, but it's still going to be dangerous. However, Evadne, I'll do everything in

my power to keep them safe," Darcy assured her, his expression solemn.

"Thank you, Darcy," Evadne said, managing a small smile.

"Darcy, with such turmoil expected tomorrow, are you still planning to attend the museum opening?" Debby

asked, anxiety lacing her words.

"lI am," Darcy replied firmly. "You know me; unless something truly extraordinary happens, | don't break my

commitments."

"Then I'll cwith you."

"Stay here, at the presidential mansion, and keep Evadne company," Darcy gently refused. "With all the men

out, | wouldn't feel right leaving her here alone."

Debby sighed softly and nodded. "Alright, then be careful. I'll look after Evadne."

Back in her room, Evadne felt restless, just as Thaddeus emerged from the bathroom.

"The bath's ready for you," he said, his forehead beaded with sweat, sleeves rolled up to his forearms, revealing

a hint of masculine allure.

"Okay..."

As Evadne headed towards the bathroom, somewhat distracted, a tender yet firm embrace enveloped her from

behind.

Thaddeus's arms wrapped around her, his hot breath on her neck sending shivers down her spine. "How about

we share the bath?" he whispered, his hands venturing under her shirt to help her undress-a familiar gesture in

their intimate moments.

"Thaddeus," Evadne would usually melt into his embrace by now, but tonight, she remained composed, causing

him a flicker of unease.

"Hmm?"

He turned her to face him, concern in his eyes. "Evadne, what's on your mind?"

"Thaddeus," she began, her voice barely above a whisper, "do you think... my mother, when she fled to our

world, could she have been... a fugitive from Helgen?"
