‘That should be the device that destroyed the surveillance system.’ Lily secretly observed just now that the light on the CCTV

cameras had turned off, and the surveillance system had indeed gotten destroyed.

‘He's not lying, but why did he do it?’

“We've told you everything, and | don’t understand what kind of truth you would like to hear.” Lily turned to pick up a glass of

water near her but leaned forward to add swarm water to the glass, probably feeling it had gotten a little cold.

Mike saw this and went to help her before returning the glass to her.

Lily smiled. “Thanks.”

She took the glass and drank almost half the water to wet her throat.

Rick stared at them quietly and waited until Lily finished drinking. “Given your relationship, | don’t believe you're not colluding with

each other.”

Lily chuckled. “Colluding to do what, | wonder? How long have you stayed in Hyderland?” she suddenly asked.

Rick narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean?”

“Well, you probably haven't stayed in Hyderland long enough, so you're unable to use the correct term to express what you're

trying to say,” Lily said.

“You're saying I'm using the wrong term?” Rick chuckled coldly. “I'm giving you two a chance to level with me, but if you don’t

appreciate it, you can’t blme if | go by the book!”

“Go by the book?” Lily sneered. “You people have always done things your way, and there have never been any rules. If you plan

to kill us for what happened to the boss, do it. As you said, Mike and | aren't your match.”

“Provokingwon't work,” Rick said coldly, “Where the hell are you hiding the boss?”

“Why do you think we're the culprits? If you've thought so, why didn’t you kill us in the conference room just now? Do you want to

level with us? Who are you putting on a show for? For the higher-ups?” Mike mocked.

“Do you think you can threaten us by kidnapping the boss?”

“Of course not!” Mike said readily, “I know the boss is just a messenger. If he’s gone, the higher-ups could always replace him with

another person. He's not important to them at all!”

Rick looked thoughtfully at him. The two men remained standoffish and grim.

Lily cleared her throat to break the tension and said, “I have no idea why you think we did it, but since we can’t convince you

otherwise, it's pointless for us to argue further. All right, | admit we're the culprits. What do you plan to do about it?”

Astonished, Mike looked at Lily, wondering why she suddenly admitted it but did not meet his eyes. Instead, she gazed calmly at

Rick.

“No, I should ask you—what will you do?” Rick asked solemnly all of a sudden.

Lily was puzzled.

Rick leaned forward with his hands on his knees and looked at her severely. He said, “Mrs. Russell, as the experiment has entered

its final phase, it doesn’t matter whether or not the ‘boss’ is around. So I'm more interested in knowing what you will do.”

Lily was surprised but had to remain calm. “I don’t understand what you mean.”
