Chapter 1761:
“What is this?” Kylee asked, suspicion knitting her brow. Despite her unease, she accepted the papers and began
flipping through them, page by page.
When her eyes landed on the final result, her hands stilled. Shock flickered across her face.
Looking up at Elwood, her voice trembled with disbelief. “Is this... what I think it is?”
“The blood samples in the report,” Elwood said, his tone somber, “are ours.”
The report referred only to Sample 1 and Sample 2—no names, no identifiers.
Kylee’s breath caught. “So, that means...”
Elwood nodded, his voice calm yet heavy with implication. “It confirms that I'm your biological father.”
Kylee stared at him as if he'd just spoken in a foreign language. “What? You? My biological father? No... that
can’t be true! Baker is my father. He raised me; he is my father!”
Her words tumbled out as she shook her head in disbelief.

wishes. And you know well enough that your mother and | were once in love. After we parted ways, she married
Baker in the blink of an eye. Doesn't that raise questions? Not long after that wedding, she was already with
child. Even back then, | suspected you might be my daughter. And now, this report removes all doubt.”
Kylee clutched the paper tighter. “No, this is impossible! | can’t believe it. | won't believe it!”
Her head kept shaking as though the motion alone might undo the truth. Elwood said nothing more. He simply
watched her, waiting for her to calm down.
In truth, he himself had struggled to find the right words when he first saw the report. To discover he had a
daughter, that Carola had borne his child after all these years, was something he should be happy about.
However...

Elwood wrestled with the thought of Kylee’s behavior. It simply didn’t sit right with him. He had just taken a
closer look at her, and strangely, not a single trace of resemblance to either himself or Carola was visible. Still,
he reminded himself that blood doesn’t always reveal itself in outward appearances; many children share little
resemblance to their parents.
The results of the paternity test spoke louder than any doubt, confirming his earlier suspicions—Kylee was his
daughter.
His first impulse, upon receiving the truth in cold black and white, had been to go see Carola. But almost
instantly, the memory of her stony resistance toward him resurfaced, making him think this wasn’t the right
time. So, he resolved to meet with Kylee first and tell her the truth about her identity.
The young woman before him was truly his daughter. The realization struck him with quiet force, the invisible
thread of kinship tugging at his heart.
When Elwood suddenly fell silent, Kylee felt uneasy. She slowly lifted her gaze, cautiously meeting his eyes,
which softened toward her.
