Briana responded, “Gotcha”
Zack scratched the back of his head, “You mentioned before that you wanted a signed copy of Nelly Belly. I’ve got it
ready for you. When you’re free, we can meet up and I’ll give it to you.”
“Alright. We’ll make plans when I’m free. I have to go see my granny now.” Briana bid Zack a polite goodbye before
heading towards Granny Luisa.
“Sure thing.” Zack watched as Briana walked away, his eyes practically glued to her.
Cornelia didn’t miss any of his subtle gestures. The three of them had grown up together and knew each other
inside out. Sometimes, they even had similar thoughts.

“Keep it down,” Zack covered Cornelia’s mouth, glancing behind her, “We’ve only met twice and you’re already
saying I like her?”
Cornelia rebuffed, “It doesn’t matter what I say. What matters is, do you have a crush on Briana?”
Zack shook his head before nodding, “Who wouldn’t like a pretty, gentle, and well–mannered girl? But she’s Briana,
Marcus‘ sister, the heiress of the Hartley Group. I’m miles away from her league.”
That was indeed a yawning chasm.
Cornelia felt that if she had known about Marcus‘ true identity, she would never have married him. Considering
Zack’s concern, she thought it was reasonable.
She also knew that while Zack’s eyes lit up at the sight of Briana, Briana didn’t seem particularly excited when she

Cornelia patted Zack’s back, “Zack, you’ll meet a girl who likes you and you like her too.”

back isn’t easy”

him. I won’t badmouth him in front of you again.”
Cornelia questioned, “Did something happen when I was away?”
“He made countless calls, bringing in all the experts, saying he’d spare no expense to cure granny. He’s probably
more anxious than you. He’s really planning to spend his life with you. You should cherish him.”

Looking up at the ceiling, Zack finally said, “You and Marcus are worlds apart, but he treats you well. I think you’ll be
happy. Status isn’t an insurmountable barrier, don’t you think?”
Cornelia knew what Zack really meant was, “If two people love each other and have the same goals, the difference
in status might not. be an unbridgeable gap.”
Zack lamented, “Am I just useless? Girls always see me as just a friend, and they never want to be my girlfriend.“.
Cornelia wouldn’t let Zack wallow in self–pity and started recounting his past, “Ever since kindergarten, there have
been girls who liked. you. They’d give you candy every day, but you never seemed to appreciate it. Even in college,
didn’t beautiful girls confess their feelings to you? They outright told you they wanted to marry you and take care of
