Chapter 221

Bright moonlight shone through the window, and occasionally, birds flew by, chirping softly.

The soothing warmth of the water enveloped Angela's weary body, easing her tense limbs. She gradually let her

guard down and slipped into the water.

When Dexter returned, he called out multiple times, but silence was all that greeted him. Noticing Angela's bag

on the couch, he confirmed that she was indeed home.

A wave of concern washed over him, prompting him to head upstairs to check on her. He found the bedroom

door closed and locked from the inside.

He knocked on her door once more, yet silence persisted. Overcby a growing sense of anxiety, Dexter

decided to pick the lock and let himself in.

Angela was nearly completely submerged. The water reached up to her chin, threatening to engulf her

completely. Without hesitation, he grabbed her shoulders and pulled her out.

In a split second, Angela was jolted awake. The sight of Dexter and the unfolding scene before her caused her

expression to shift tically. In a surge of emotion, she slapped him and swiftly crouched down, shielding

herself with her long hair.

Dexter felt a sharp pain on his face and becfurious. "Do you have any conscience? You almost drowned just

now! You..."

"I don't need you to save me, even if I'm drowning. Get out!" Angela shot back, looking down.

The atmosphere in the bathroom was especially unpleasant.

"What an ungrateful woman!" Dexter shouted coldly. He then turned and left, slamming the door behind him.

Angela sat in the water until it cooled down and finally got out when she felt cold. She was frustrated with Dexter

and worried he might have seen something he shouldn't have. If he had, she would undoubtedly dig out his

eyes.

She seethed with anger, but her cheeks were flushed. It was utterly baffling; it wasn't like she was the one who'd

gotten slapped.

She silently cursed and then wrapped a towel around herself before collapsing onto the bed. Yet the earlier scene

replayed in her mind relentlessly.

The concern in Dexter's eyes had seemed genuine. He must have been truly worried about her at that moment.

She felt a bit overwhelmed and went to bed without even bothering to dry her hair. The next morning, she woke

up with a headache, but it didn't bother her much. AftePall, it was Saturday.

She intended to rest at home, organize the company's affairs for the upcoming month, and pay a visit to

someone in the afternoon.

Dexter was there as well. As she went downstairs for breakfast, she noticed him putting on his slippers and

heading to the kitchen in search of something to eat. It appeared he had just returned from a workout.

Reflecting on the events of last night, Angela felt slightly uneasy. Ultimately, she

realized that she had misinterpreted the situation.

"I'm sorry for what happened yesterday." Her voice was soft and hesitant, barely above a whisper.

Dexter sneered. "It's surprising you still know how to apologize."

She was at a loss for words and realized that she shouldn't have said that.

Fortunately, Dexter headed to work after breakfast, leaving Angela alone at home. She reviewed all the

information he had shared with her, determined to get a better understanding.

As the tfor her appointment approached, she quickly dressed up and stepped out to meet the person.

"Mr. Cooper, how are you?" When Angela arrived at the cafe, she found Jordan Cooper already seated at a table.

She approached him calmly and greeted him warmly.

Jordan glanced at her indifferently and smiled. "Ms. Graham, what's the important matter you wanted to discuss

that you asked to meet me

here? | still have many tasks to

handle at the company."

Angela took a seat with poise and ordered two cups of coffee. She inwardly rolled

her eyes at the old man in front of her.
