Lexie frowned. “Someone’s back!” Jocelyn’s expression shifted and she immediately closed the

document. “Lexie, let’s go!” “He’s coming up now! We’ll run into him if we go out!” Jocelyn looked around.

“We can’t hide in the study or we’ll be found out quickly. Let’s…” Her gaze fell on the window next to the

study. “Let’s go through the window! Quick, you go first!”

Lexie glanced at Jocelyn and did not refuse as she quickly opened the window and climbed down the

water pipe.

Jocelyn walked to the door of the study and locked it from the inside before quickly going to the window.

Lexie was halfway down and sighed when she saw Jocelyn climb out of the window

The two girls had never done such a dangerous thing before. Lexie struggled to finally climb down the

water pipe and not only did she cut her hand but her arms were slightly shaking too.

Jocelyn just climbed onto the water pipe when she heard someone kicking the door of the study.

She guessed that it was definitely Michael who had returned since no one else would head straight to the

study.

Just as she was thinking about it, she suddenly heard someone smashing the lock of the study door with

a heavy object.

With a heavy blow of a “bang”, Jocelyn panicked as she thought that the person was going to force open

the lock

As a result, her hand did not grab on properly and she ended up falling from the water piper when she

was in between the first and second floor. Even though the height was not too high, Jocelyn was

completely unprepared and twisted her ankle.

Lexie’s calm expression drastically changed and she whispered, “Jocelyn, are you okay?” Jocelyn shook

her head slightly. “Let’s leave from the back door. Hurry or he’ll find out when he enters the study!”

Lexie nodded and turned to squat down. “I’ll carry you! Hurry!”

Jocelyn was not greedy as she just wanted to leave the White Mansion with Michael’s things in her

hands.

Lexie struggled to carry Jocelyn on her back and the two of them quickly left through the back door.

When they were finally in the car, Lexie quickly started it and Jocelyn breathed a sigh of relief. Not long

after the car was on the road, Jocelyn’s phone rang before she could read the letter.

Lexie peeked at her from the side and asked in a cold voice, “Who is it?” Jocelyn’s face tensed up. “It’s

my father!” “Pick up!”

Jocelyn picked up the call and spoke nonchalantly.

Michael’s voice came from the other end with a sharp tone. “Jocelyn, the person in my study earlier was

you, right?!”

Lexie glanced at Jocelyn and shook her head. Jocelyn was also afraid that Michael was setting her up so

she kept quiet. Michael continued to speak, “Do you think this matter is over if you keep quiet? Jocelyn,

it’s not like you’re not aware that I have cameras in my study!”

Jocelyn’s expression changed slightly. Michael was currently watching the surveillance tapes in his

study.

He almost reached the venue where that night’s banquet was held but suddenly felt uneasy so he turned

back home.

He did not expect that his gut feeling would be so accurate.

His eyes flickered when he saw the two people on the surveillance tapes.

Jocelyn remained silent.

He snorted coldly and said, “Jocelyn, I know you don’t believe me and you think that I’m tricking you.

Don’t worry, I don’t have to trick you to know who you entered my study with. You better speak up or I’ll

call the police and tell them that someone broke into my study and stole some confidential documents.

“You’re my daughter so it wouldn’t be considered stealing if you took something from your own home.

However, as for your best friend Lexie, I didn’t give her permission to enter my home or open my safe.

The surveillance cameras recorded everything clearly so I’m afraid that this won’t go easy for her!”

Jocelyn’s expression drastically changed. “This matter has nothing to do with Lexie, it was all my idea!”

Michael sneered. “I don’t care whose idea it was, I only know that the person I want to report is Lexie.

You should understand what I mean, Jocelyn!”

Jocelyn’s face tensed and her brows were furrowed. Lexie was only helping her so she could not let

Lexie get involved. She inhaled deeply. “Don’t you think that you can’t get Lily into Prosperity now that

you don’t have my mother’s letter to threaten me? I promise you, regardless of whether or not that letter

exists, I would still help you with it!” In order to not involve Lexie, she had to go beg Skyler. She would

think of other ways if that did not work as long as Lexie was not involved. Michael disagreed. “Jocelyn,

you’re too naïve. You probably haven’t read the letter yet so I’ll

tell you the truth. I removed the letter from the envelope. Do you really think that I’ll let you take that letter

so easily?”

Lexie slammed on the brakes when she heard it and frowned at Jocelyn.

Jocelyn’s expression changed and threw the phone onto the dashboard to quickly take the envelope out

of her pocket.

At that moment, she realized that the envelope was empty and the letter was not inside!

Jocelyn’s expression was extremely foul.

Michael was still talking to himself. “Speaking of which, I need to thank you. Yesterday, I took the letter

out to take a picture for you to rush you and I didn’t put it back in the envelope. Now that I think about it,

luckily, I didn’t put it back, or else it would have been stolen by you.

Today I finally learned that thieves are difficult to guard against.” Jocelyn did not expect that such a

coincidence would waste her efforts and cause her to steal an empty envelope! Listening to Michael’s
