“That dirty woman?” Adam looked at Diandra as indifferently as if he were looking at a stranger. No one could tell
that the two were a biological mother and son.
When Adam looked at Diandra, she was too guilty to look into his eyes.
She gave birth to him after a forty-week pregnancy. Because she had not cared for him much since he was a child,

When Lumma went back downtown, it was three o’clock in the afternoon.

hotel.

morning. Why are you here now? I have called you many times, but you didn’t answer.

Leonard had never seen her be late.
When he didn’t see her at half past nine today, he called her several times, but no one answered.
Leonard thought that Adam might have asked Lumma to do other things, so he didn’t care about it anymore.
