Seeing that Charlie hadn’t come back yet, Jack turned to Theresa and asked, “By the way, Theresa, I heard you and
Eugene know each other?”

Roderick looked at Theresa quietly. Didn’t she have the children with Charlie?

He lowered his voice and asked, “Are you and Charlie getting a divorce because of this? Does Charlie believe that
you have the children with Eugene?”
Theresa didn’t know what to say.
She took a look at Roderick and had to admit that he was a smart guy. He could already guess what was going on
after hearing what Jack had said.
Theresa was about to speak when Jack exclaimed, “No wonder Eugene refused when he was asked to come over
for dinner today. He was afraid that it would be awkward.”
They also knew Eugene, so Daphne tried to invite Eugene as well.
Daphne gave Jack a look and said, “Don’t talk nonsense. Eugene just had something to do. He said he had some
work, so he couldn’t come.”
Jack said, “How is his mother doing? Is she getting better?”
Theresa was confused when she heard this. She looked at Jack. “Eugene’s mother?”
Theresa had never heard anything about Eugene’s family.
She didn’t know that he was Rose’s uncle until he came back from abroad.

Theresa was shocked. When Eugene broke up with Cristina, he left without telling Cristina. Was it because of this?
Jack ate a peanut and said to Theresa, “I met him once before when I was abroad. You know what? His mother
hated him so much that she threw things directly at his head. He did not resist and his head was covered in blood,
but he still coaxed his mother to eat. If my mother had done that to me, I would not have cared about her
anymore. Eugene was so tolerant.”
This was the first time Theresa had heard such a story about Eugene.
Jack seemed to know a lot about him.
Roderick said, “If your mother had beaten you, you wouldn’t be like this now.”
Jack was typically spoiled by his family.
He did not like studying when he was young. His mother was afraid that he would have a hard time, so she did not
force him to go to school.
