Chapter 1350

As usual, Odell finished his work and left the office in the evening.

Shermaine tidied up and was ready to get off work too.

Just then, Cliff called her. She answered the phone and asked with a smile, “How may I help you, Assistant

Bogard?”

“Are you free later? Let’s have dinner together.”

Shermaine was not a fool. Cliff was very busy. He would not invite her for dinner for no reason. She asked, “Is there

something you have to say to me?”

“Yes. Let’s talk face to face.”

Since Odell had left, there was no reason for Shermaine to stay, so she agreed.

Ten minutes later, Cliff and she arrived at a restaurant and sat face–to–face.

Cliff looked at her with a complicated expression, hesitating to speak.

Shermaine noticed his face and suddenly felt a little uneasy. Her eyes flickered as she smiled and said, “If you have

something to say, just say it.”

Cliff took a deep breath. “Go back to the administration department from tomorrow onward. I’ve arranged a

position for you. You can take up the post when you arrive tomorrow.”

Shermaine’s expression changed, and she immediately asked, “Why do you want me to go back to the

administration department? Did I do something wrong to make Master Carter unhappy?”

Cliff was stunned. He obviously did not expect her

outburst. However, he rationalized that it was because it was hard to accept a sudden transfer.

“No, you worked very hard and didn’t make any mistakes.”

Shermaine could not hold back her emotions and continued to ask with a cold face, “Then, why do you want to

transfer me somewhere else?”

Cliff also frowned.

For some reason, he felt that Shermaine’s expression was a little strange. It was very different from her usual

generous and gentle appearance.

After thinking for a moment, he said, “Master Carter’s orders. He thinks you’re not suitable for the post of

secretary.”

Shermaine frowned and asked incredulously, “Did Master Carter really order it?”

“Yes. I couldn’t have transferred you if he didn’t order it.”

Shermaine bowed her head and clenched her hands under the table. She thought of what Odell said last Saturday

night at Elysian House when he had borrowed those waiters‘ cell phones to call Sylvia.

He mentioned that he would transfer her, but his tone sounded like he only proposed it as a compromise for Sylvia

to come back. However, Sylvia did not agree in the end. He had then called her unreasonable again and hung up

the phone and left with a dark expression.

He did not ask her to be transferred until today. Why did he suddenly want to transfer her?

Shermaine choked on her breath and asked, “Assistant Bogard, is Master Carter doing this because of Mrs.

Carter?”

Cliff replied, “I’m not sure. He only told me that you’re not suitable for this position.”

She laughed coldly. “It must be because of Mrs. Carter.”

Cliff felt uncomfortable when he heard her tone. He said

bluntly, “Shermaine, I know you feel wronged, but since Mrs. Carter misunderstood you, it’s natural for Master

Carter to transfer you away for her sake. Moreover, your new position in the administration department is no worse

than your current position. You’ll maintain your salary as well.”

His tone was a little cold.

Shermaine’s expression changed. She suddenly realized that she had misspoken.

She pursed her lips and softened her expression. “You’re right. It slipped my mind because I got worked up. Master

Carter and Mrs. Carter’s relationship is the most important. I can accept it even if I have to leave.”

Cliff’s expression also eased when he saw her relax. “It’s good that you understand.”

Not long after the meal was finished, he took a phone call

and left.

The moment he went out, Shermaine’s face turned cold. She frowned. Her expression was full of anger and

resentment that could not be concealed.
