Sherry could not bear to leave the girl. As she choked on her emotions, she squatted down and carried the girl into
her arms.
Caprice hugged her tightly and continued to whimper, “Mommy, please don’t go. I will stop Daddy from bullying
you. I will be a good girl. Please don’t leave me… Sobs…”
Sherry’s heart clenched tightly. She patted the girl’s back to calm her down. A few moments later, she sighed and
said, “Okay, okay. Mommy won’t leave Caprice.”

Before she could finish, the girl burst out into tears once more.
“Mommy is a liar! Mommy is going to divorce Daddy and leave Caprice! Mommy is leaving Caprice … Sobs…”
Sherry was silenced again. She glared at John, signaling him to calm the girl down. However, the man simply stared
at her blankly as if his soul had left his body.
