Chapter 1742

The day passed while Sherry buried herself in work.

At dusk, Sherry walked out of the office and saw her white car parked beside the road.

The window was wound down and Caprice popped her head out, calling her adorably, “Mommy…”

The sweet expression felt warmer than the breeze.

Sherry hastened her steps to the car. She got in, hugged the girl in her arms, and kissed her on the

cheek.

Caprice giggled as she kissed her mother back. They played around for a while before Sherry released the girl. She

then switched her attention to the driver’s seat. “Why aren’t you driving?”

John smiled and looked at her through the rear mirror. “I’m waiting for your order.”

Sherry gulped. “Drive.”

John started the car and drove, but not in the direction of her apartment.

Sherry asked, “Where are you going?”

He said, “Caprice wants to have something good to eat. I booked a restaurant. We’ll be there in twenty minutes.”

Sherry frowned.

“I’ve only booked a table. I didn’t pay for it yet,” he added.

Sherry’s brows eased. “If Caprice wants to eat nice food, let’s

go.”

Even though their relationship was not as tense as before, it did not mean that she had forgiven him or accepted

him. She would never eat the food that he bought.

Sherry then looked outside the window with Caprice.

John glanced at her through the rear window. His lips pursed in silence.

Less than twenty minutes later, they arrived at the restaurant that was famous for seafood.

John had booked the best room on the second floor.

Sherry carried Caprice and followed John and the waiter to the room. She was stunned when she saw the place.

There were only three of them dining in, and there were multiple empty seats on the first floor that could fit a

family of four. The man just had to choose the best room with the most space. The minimum spend to dine in the

room was ten thousand.

Although Sherry was no longer living under the poverty line, she was still a working adult. Her purse was already

bleeding before she even sat down. Her chest tightened as she glared at him.

John looked confused. “What’s wrong? Something wrong with your eyes?”

Two waiters came by with concerned looks.

Sherry bit the bullet and said, “Caprice is hungry. Let’s just eat.”

The waiters folded the round table smaller to fit the family of three.

Sherry placed Caprice in the baby chair and sat down beside her; John sat opposite her.

The waiter gave them a menu each. Sherry and Caprice went through the menu together.

When she saw the price listed on the menu, she gasped. The cheapest dish on the menu cost two thousand.

Caprice had no concept of money. She pointed at the pictures that captured her attention and said, “I want this,

this, this, and this!”

The waiter wrote down the order one by one.

Sherry felt like her soul had left her body. She pursed her lip and stayed quiet.

Caprice flipped to the last page and pointed at a beautiful–looking dessert. “This!”

The waiter smiled brightly. “Alright. Is there anything else?”

Caprice said, “Nothing else for me.”

The waiter looked at Sherry.

Sherry forced a stiff smile on her face. “Me too.”

Caprice had ordered half of the menu, so there was no reason for her to order any more.

The waiter then turned to John.

John glanced at Sherry as the closed the menu in his hands. “Three glasses of fruit juice please.”

“Alright. Please wait while the kitchen prepares your order.”

The waiter kept the menus and left.

John looked at Sherry.
