Chapter 1893

They turned to Caprice and Liam in unison.

The duo went up to them. Caprice smiled brightly and greeted Odell and Sylvia first in a cheery. voice, “Good

afternoon, Uncle Odell and Aunt Sylvia.”

Then, she turned to Isabel and Flint. “Hey Isabel, hey Flint.”

“Hey!” Sylvia greeted her with the same warmth before taking a box out of the bag Odell was carrying. “Caprice,

this is a special gift from your aunt. Open it! I hope you like it.”

Caprice took the box and opened it and found a handmade figurine inside. It was a figurine of her favorite anime

character. She wanted to buy it in the past, but it was a limited edition that was only sold in Fosterland.

Her eyes lit up. She thanked Sylvia with a sharp thrill in her voice, “I love it! Thank you, Aunt Sylvia.”

Sylvia gently patted her head. “You’re welcome. Come in!”

“Okay.”

Sylvia and Odell lead the way.

Flint went up to Caprice and observed the box in her hand, then he reached over and wanted to touch it.

Before Caprice could react, another hand came out of nowhere and slapped Flint’s hand away.

Liam shot Flint a sideways glance. “Shoo.”

Flint groaned, “I wasn’t going to take it. I just wanted to take a look.”

Liam ignored him and peered at Caprice before continuing to walk onward. The look he gave seemed to tell her to

follow him.

Caprice was always an easygoing person. She shoved the box into Flint’s hands. “Take a look all you want, Flint. Just

remember to give it back to me.”

With that, she marched forward to follow Liam.

Flint fiddled with the figurine, then he looked at Caprice and Liam walking side to side and grinned. He walked up to

Isabel and propped his arms over her shoulders while murmuring, “Hey, sis, do you think they made up?”

Isabel looked at Caprice and Liam pensively and remarked, “It does seem like it, but I don’t think they’ve completely

smoothened things out yet.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Don’t you think they are acting slightly different from in the past?”

Caprice had always clung onto Liam like a parasite back then.

Even though she was now following Liam around, why did it seem like she was making a point of keeping a careful

distance from him?

Flint rubbed his chin and contemplated, “I wonder what happened between them.”

Shortly after Liam entered the house, he went into the study with his father.

Caprice sat with Sylvia, Flint, and Isabel and chatted away merrily.

At one point in the conversation, they steered the topic to Caprice.

Isabel was the one to initiate it. “Caprice, didn’t you go back to Glanchester for the summer vacation? Why are you

back so soon?”

Caprice thought out her answer. “A good friend of mine had to leave her hometown earlier than expected. I was

worried about her, so I decided to come back earlier as well to keep her company.”

She could not risk mentioning her working for Moses because Sylvia would let slip the information to her mother.

Liam may be aware of it as well, but she trusted him to not spill her secret. It was not like him.

Isabel and Flint exchanged a look before asking her, “Which friend? What does she do?”

She told them, “It’s my roommate Freya.”

“Oh…” Isabel exclaimed.

Caprice felt a hint of suspicion. Why did Isabel react that way? It seemed like there was a sense of relief in her tone.

“Caprice, have you been hanging around in your uni dorm these past few days?” Flint asked nonchalantly while

slumped over the couch.

His eyes resembled Liam’s. Their pupils were black holes that consumed all light. However, there was a different

gleam in his eyes unlike his brother’s. He seemed very perceptive as if he could see through people with his fox-like

stare.

Caprice figured that she did not have much to hide apart from her taking up a job at Moses’. She answered frankly,

“Yeah, I’ve mostly been around the dormitory.”

“Have you been with that roommate of yours this entire time?”

“Yeah.”
