Chapter 323 KESTER It felt like the second Kasmine stepped out of the house, my world began to fall into chaos.

Ten fucking minutes. That's all it took.

My phone lit up like a rabid Christmas tree - texts, emails, missed calls. It was almost like they had piled up, waiting forto be alone and vulnerable, just to test my promise of self-control to Kasmine.

Alfred was found dead in his house this morning, and his wife told the authorities I'd been there. She said she heard my voice before the gun went off.

Said she sawleaving by the tshe ran out of the kitchen.

Fuck.

I gritted my teeth, pacing around. My body couldn't stay still even if tried. The only thing louder than the pounding of my heart was the snarl rising in my chest.

Why now? I wanted to stop getting my hands dirty. But someone was playing a dangerous game.

The Black Ledger had been tampered with again. Forty percent of the firewall layers were cracked through like they were nothing more than damp paper.

That level of hacking? It wasn't samateur with a grudge. This was professional.

I must say, whoever this person was, was smart as fuck. They covered their damn tracks like a ghost.

But the infuriating part? Every single camera feed during the breach was wiped. Someone inside knew exactly where to look, what to touch, and what to erase. As if that wasn't enough, Alpha Wes was threatening to bring down hellfire and brimstone. Mr. Ray just called to inform me.

And then... Mellors.

Alpha fucking Mellors.

He had sent over a dozen texts.

He wants to take back all he had done forsince I decided to treat his daughter like trash. But he wouldn't. He couldn't.

I'd already pulled the strings. The contingencies were in place. If he dared make a move, he'd lose more than I ever would.

I ran a hand down my face, fingers trembling with fury. The kind of fury that used to end in blood... The skind I'd promised I'd control.

I snatched my phone off the table and dialed the only person I could trust to clean this up fast.

"Norlan." I didn't wait for his usual pleasantries, "We have a corpse, a frjob, the ghost hacker, and two Alphas sniffing for war. Get to my house. Now." 1/3 Chapter 323.

And just as I was about to drop the call, my phone lit up with another text, and it was from Alpha Kex. I wanted to ignore it, but his words halted me.

"I swear to fuck, Kester. I'll strip. And I'm going to hit you where it hurts the most.

I never get scared. No, But this text? It sent a shiver down my spine, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake.

Why the fuck did I feel that way? KASMINE.

The weird stares I received as we navigated through the small corner leading to our house were a bit disturbing.

I felt like one who just got herself into a deep, dirty scandal. And that feeling sucked. But I'd live through it.

"Dad," I greeted when I walked into the living room. He stood with his hands recognized.

He was Rex. Blaine's close friend.

his waist, listening to an angry young man who I Veins bulged across his temple like they might burst from the pressure of his fury.

The moment he saw me, he couldn't even hide his disgust. The glare he cast my way madefeel like a vile, filthy thing.

"Go in, honey. Your mother is inside. I'll be with you shortly," Dad took a quick moment to inform me.

I nodded and left without hesitating, feeling too filthy to stand before Rex.

and But I overheard him say something that caught my attention, and it wasn't pleasing.

"We are forming a revolution, Kade. There is no stopping Blaine. Adat of people are already interested in it. There might be a takeover soon." There was silence from both of them, almost as if they knew I was listening and wantedto digest every word he just said.

But I walked on, pretending not to O care. But in reality, I cared. And d ng matter what. I couldn't let anyone be this unfair to Kester. I had to inform him so we'd cup with the best way to handle this. Mum looked pale. She looked too sad, almost like a shadow of herself. She couldn't even pretend to smile. And it hurt me.

"How are you doing?" She asked after we silently sat and watched each other for a while.

"I'm fine," I replied.
