Magnus ran into Gautier as he walked out of the study.

Gautier raised the two bottles of wine in his hands. “I brought this Sauvon Blanc all the way from the foot of the

mountain. Care for a drink?”

Magnus adjusted his glasses and chuckled, “I was just thinking that tonight feels unbearably long. Let's go.”

Soon after, they climbed to the summit of Divine Mountain.

The peak needed no embellishment. It was a natural altar and a vast stage.

An open platform stretched before them, flanked only by a solemn temple building that could accommodate

thousands of spectators.

Lifting his glass, Magnus said, “You flattertoo much!”

deprecatingly.

generation. But me? I'm merely a puppet of the Zelinsky family.”

“Which is why you must do what I did!” Gautier’s tone sharpened. “Strike first. Take him down. Only then can

you truly inherit everything.”
