Chapter 128 It Turns Out That He Has Long Fallen in Love With Her

Nicholas was suddenly stunned when these words escaped Samuel’s lips. His fingers, which were holding the

cigarette, abruptly froze in mid-air. At that moment, he suddenly felt like someone. had given him a wake-up call,

for he had never thought of this possibility before. However, now that Samuel mentioned it, he suddenly realized he

had overlooked a crucial issue.

I’ve been adamant about never getting back with Madelline ever since our reconciliation, especially now. I won’t

choose to be with her even if Nancy and I part ways. But why? What Samuel said was right. I clearly loved Madelline

before, so getting back together with her would be the best outcome if Nancy and I divorced. Yet, why do I keep

rejecting the idea?

“I haven’t thought about it,” Nicholas said truthfully. Indeed, he never thought of the reason.

Samuel put out the cigarette in his hand and calmly explained, “The answer is simple. You don’t. love her anymore

because you’ve fallen in love with someone else.” As he spoke, his gaze landed on Nicholas and Nancy’s bedroom.

Truth be told, he had comprehended everything through Nicholas’ anxiety when treating Nancy just now. But

sometimes, such was love. The bystanders always had better judgment than those in the relationship when it came

to conflict.

“If my guess is correct, the person you love is your wife and not Madelline.” With that, Samuel patted Nicholas on

the shoulder. “Cherish your wife while you still can, for some things will never return once lost. Please don’t be like

me in the past.”

“Thank you for the advice.” Nicholas expressed his gratitude sincerely.

After Samuel left, Nicholas took a bath and slept next to Nancy. However, he was practically insomniac that night as

his mind kept recalling Samuel’s words. The person you love is your wife.” Nancy is the person I love? Have I truly

fallen in love with her?

This sentence kept going around frantically in his mind. He thought for a long time when a sudden realization hit

him for a moment. Samuel was right! I might’ve long fallen in love with Nancy. It’s just that I’m clueless about it. I

will be distressed, uncomfortable, and in pain whenever she cries. Just the thought of her leaving my life drives me

mad. In fact, I’d even go crazy with jealousy when I saw her and Christian together, especially when they acted

flirtatiously. In the past, I had always defined it as Nancy being my wife and my person, so she could never act this

way with a man. That was also why I always felt that it was my possessiveness that was haunting me.But now that I

have re-examined everything. I seem to have found a different explanation. I care for her because I love her; I feel

She got up and stretched. Then, she changed into a beautiful dress and went downstairs. Perhaps because she had

recovered from her illness, she felt much more relaxed. Coupled with the bright sunshine, her mood improved a lot.

Meanwhile, Nicholas, who had just woken up, reached out to touch the spot next to him before opening his eyes. He

immediately sat up from the bed when he realized no one was beside him.

“Nancy…” He called out while getting out of bed to look for her.

To his dismay, she was nowhere to be seen, even after he searched the entire room. For a moment, he seemed to

feel himself getting brought back to when he came home and looked for her yesterday, extremely panicked and

scared.

“Nancy…” he shouted as he drew the curtain.

However, unlike last time, there was no one behind the drapes. Nothing. Even so, he refused to give up and opened

another curtain. Unfortunately, his search was futile. He bent over and looked out the window, but there was

nothing outside the window either.

At that moment, he suddenly felt a rush of relief. What was I afraid of? Was I scared that she would jump off the

building?

“Nancy…”

Nicholas changed direction and swiftly ran downstairs. At last, he finally breathed a sigh of relief. and the corner of

his mouth curled into a faint smile when he saw the familiar figure sitting and enjoying breakfast in the dining room

on the first floor.

Hearing his voice, Nancy turned around. She was stunned when she saw a bearded man with disheveled clothes

and shoes on backward.

The next moment, he hugged her tightly. His strength was so forceful that she could hardly breathe. Therefore, she

had no choice but to reach out and pull his clothes. “You’re choking me. Let go.”

Only then did he loosen his grip a little. Immediately afterward, he said, “Why did you come down alone? You

scared the hell out of me. I thought you were gone. Let me know in advance where you’ll go in the future,” he

requested.

As she listened to his words, she could not explain the emotion brewing within her. He’s always been a composed,

handsome, and elegant man throughout our marriage. Yet, a man who always wears a suit and tie and even being

particular about the angle of his tie shows such a disheveled side. And for what? Just because he got panic-stricken

at the thought of me missing and was frantically rushing downstairs looking for me? So, this man, who is particular

about everything, beats himself up and ditches his principles disorderly because of me?But it’s too late, for I don’t

need it anymore.

Perhaps because this was the last hug between the two, Nancy figured it would not hurt much to cling to it for a

while. For that reason, she accepted his hug.

Nicholas embraced her while she quietly stayed in his arms. Eventually, the two had breakfast together.

During their meal, Nancy ate quietly and gracefully. Although she did not speak, her facial expression was calm and

gentle under the warm sun.

His heart was tinged with delight as he watched her. For some reason, he felt they had to the past.

His dream abruptly shattered the moment he heard Nancy’s words.

After breakfast, she put down the tableware and then looked at him. “Thank you, Nicholas. Thank you for fulfilling

your promise.”

He was puzzled as he did not understand what she meant at all.

Raising her lips, she reminded gently, “When I was in a coma last night, you said you’d let me go. and agree to the

divorce when I woke up. You’re not regretting it, aren’t you?”
