Chapter 396 Freya’s Efforts
Two days passed in the blink of an eye. At eight o’clock in the morning, Jamie entered Edward’s room.
Freya stood by the bed, watching the nurse feed Edward liquid food.
The servants here were all locals that Jamie had brought in, speaking the language of Floravalea.
Freya looked up and saw Jamie entering. She nodded with a cold expression.
Jamie glanced at Edward and furrowed his brows slightly. It seemed that his younger brother had become even
thinner recently.
“Have you still not come up with a treatment plan?” Jamie turned to Freya and asked.
Freya’s gaze shifted away from Edward, and she looked at Jamie coldly. “Mr. Fraser, we’re talking about stomach
cancer here, not to mention advanced-stage cancer! If you think it’s possible to come up with a treatment plan so
quickly, then I should have already won international awards.”
Jamie’s eyes narrowed coldly, and he looked at Freya. “I don’t care about any of that. I only know that my brother’s
time is limited. If you can’t come up with a treatment plan soon, I will take action.”
“What action?”
Freya stared at Jamie warily. “Jamie, if you try to do anything to me, then no one will be able to treat Edward’s
condition!”
Jamie sneered. “Miss Kaufmann, rest assured that I still need to rely on you to treat Edward. But I can’t say the
same for those three under you. I’ve heard that Maddox hasn’t been doing much lately.”
Freya clenched her fists in anger. “Are you threatening me, Jamie? Your tricks are getting old.”
Jamie looked at Freya calmly.
“As long as it works, isn’t that enough? It’s fine if you don’t feel threatened, Miss Kaufmann. Just take care of
Maddox’s body when the time comes. I heard that morticians like you have excellent makeup skills. I’d love to see
it.”
Jamie’s eyes carried a hint of bloody ruthlessness.
Freya tightly clenched her fists and locked eyes with him for a few seconds before finally looking away. “Fine, I will

Under such circumstances, she had to submit. If it were just her being brought here by Jamie, she could. choose
death over submission. But Lucius, Russell, and Maddox were all implicated. She had to protect
them.
Jamie then left.
Freya stood still, listening to the sound of the door opening and closing behind her. She took a deep breath and
gazed at Edward lying on the sick bed.
She had originally had time to think about a treatment plan, but now Jamie couldn’t wait any longer.
He failed to understand that once he got impatient, the time she had allocated for them would be reduced. She
couldn’t devote all the remaining time to treating Edward.

After all, she had to prioritize the lives of those three people.
Freya turned and returned to the office.
In the office, Lucius and Russell were researching the latest medicine.
They were holding some confidential medical information from several countries, all related to stomach cancer
research projects.
The failure of a research project didn’t necessarily mean that the approach was wrong. It could be due to problems
that arose along the way. But those approaches were worth studying, as they could potentially be realized in theory.
Russell looked up from the microscope and immediately asked Freya, “Miss Kaufmann, how is the patient’s
condition today?”
Lucius also looked up.
Maddox, on the sofa, moved slightly but didn’t speak.
“Not too good. He has lost even more weight than before,” Freya said, looking at Russell. “Jamie made some harsh
remarks today.”
Maddox sat up abruptly on the sofa. “What did he say?”
Freya glanced at Maddox. “He said that if we can’t come up with a treatment plan soon, he will take action.” She
didn’t dare to say that Jamie was targeting him now.
Maddox was timid in the first place, and in the face of such life-threatening pressure, he had already started to give
up.
If he were to find out that Jamie wanted to kill him, he would probably have a mental breakdown.
Russell’s face turned serious. “If that’s the case, we can only take risks and try the treatment plans that haven’t
produced results on the patient one by one.”
Freya nodded and walked to their desk. “What are you researching?”
Russell replied, “The latest targeted therapy.”
Lucius chimed in, “But the effect of this targeted therapy is not significant. It definitely can’t cure the disease, but I
think it can buy us some time.”
Freya narrowed her eyes, still thinking about Jamie’s words today. Soon, she came up with a plan.
If she could find a way to send Russell, Lucius, and Maddox away, she could stay and continue treating Edward. This
way, she wouldn’t be giving up on him.
And with only her alone, even if Jamie was furious, he wouldn’t dare to do anything to her.
Freya pursed her lips and looked at the microscope. A flash of inspiration crossed her mind, and she turned to look
at some medical devices beside her.
“Miss Kaufmann?”
Ill join you in the research,” Freya said.

A day quickly passed, and Freya spent all her time in the office studying various drugs, except for breakfast and
lunch breaks.
At six in the evening, Jamie stood in his room, looking at the surveillance monitor on the wall.
“It seems that putting pressure on her is the right thing to do.” His gaze was cold and indifferent as he looked at the
figure in the office.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmFreya busied herself between various devices until nine o’clock in the evening, when she finally took some time to
leave the office and have dinner.
The chef in the villa had already prepared a sumptuous dinner. It was as grand as a state banquet.
Freya knew that Jamie didn’t have good intentions. He just wanted her to regain her energy so that she could take
care of Edward’s condition.
After dinner, Freya returned to her room. She went into the bathroom to freshen up.
After closing the bathroom door, Freya took a deep breath and turned on the faucet and the showerhead.
Amidst the gentle sound of running water, Freya meticulously inspected every nook and cranny of the bathroom,
ensuring that there were no concealed cameras. She then discreetly retrieved a few chips and wires from her
clothing.
These components had been covertly taken from the medical devices. Some of these devices were equipped with
network wires and Bluetooth systems, allowing for the convenient transfer of images to a computer.
The wires, Bluetooth systems, and chips inside were strikingly similar to those found in cell phones.
Silently, she made modifications to the chips and wires.
“I still need some tools,” Freya murmured, her brow furrowed as she approached the final stages. She gazed at the
miniature prototype of a ‘cell phone’ before her.
There was only one motherboard connected to various types of wires.
Freya pondered deeply. It wasn’t just tools that she lacked, but more importantly, a network adapter. Without it,
even if she managed to complete the phone, it would be akin to a device without network capabilities, stuck in
airplane mode.
Unless…
Freya carefully stowed away the items and thought of another medical device. This particular device could connect
to the internet, albeit with a simplistic system that only served medical purposes. Nevertheless, with her skills, she
was confident in her ability to retrieve the network chip from within.
She slowly formed a plan in her mind.
