Chapter 54 No Remedy Left

For the past three days, Freya had been going to the company in the morning and staying in the Joint

Department in the afternoon.

The reconstruction of West Geft turned out to be much more complicated than she had initially

anticipated. Some elderly people were unwilling to move, while others were demanding exorbitant

compensation.

To make matters worse, there were several shrines in West Geft. The elderly people believed that

these shrines held great significance for their culture and heritage, and they would never allow anyone

to demolish them.

For these three days, Freya and Radley had been listening to the executives discussing these issues

and occasionally offered their opinions.

They spent every afternoon together. Although Radley was a se mbag as a husband, Freya found

herself quite compatible with him when it came to work. As a business partner, his meticulous thinking

and quick response made her somewhat appreciate him.

Today was Friday, Freya got up early and went downstairs for breakfast. However, she suddenly felt

nauseous,

She forced herself to suppress the feeling of vomiting Sylvia looked at her with some concern and said,

“Frey, your reaction is much stronger than other pregnant women’s. You have to be careful not to be

found out by Radley when you’re with him in the Joint Department this afternoon.”

“I know, Mom. I only feel uncomfortable in the morning and less nauseous in the afternoon.”

Freya weakly asked, “Mom. how’s Braxton recovering?

“Since his injuries are severe, he needs a long recovery time.” Sylvia smiled and continued. “Despite

that, he also has some good fortune amidst the misfortune. He has found some romantic

opportunities.”

“Mom, do you like Izzy too?” Freya chuckled.

“It’s not up to me. I think there must be something going on between Braxton and Isabella, but they

haven’t made it clear after all this time. Can you find out for me?” Sylvia asked.

Freya nodded. I’ll find out more when I have time. I’ll visit him tonight.”

After breakfast, she set off for the Kaufmann Group. As soon as the elevator door opened on the top

floor. a charming figure rushed in and hugged her neck.

“Frey, did you miss me?”

Freya widened her eyes and exclaimed, “Mel, when did you get here?”

I’ve been here for three days now. I spent a few days with my best friend before coming to see you,”

Melissa replied as she took Freya’s arm and headed toward the office.

Freya twitched her mouth. “Did you get into trouble in Vroria?”

She knew her cousin too well. Melissa had been known as the little tyrant in Vroria.

Despite being a girl, she had a tough personality and often got beaten by her father.

“No, Frey. I applied to Evergreen University, and I got the admission letter, so that’s why I am here!

Please take good care of me for the next four years.” Melissa replied cheekily.

Freya felt a headache. “Ayden, prepare a set of housing for her, preferably close to Evergreen

University.”

With Melissa around, her morning was far from peaceful.

Melissa sat on the sofa in Freya’s office like a hamster, munching on a pile of snacks.

Eventually, Freya couldn’t take it anymore and put down her pen. “Mel, can you go to the lounge to eat

and come back when you’re done?”

If it had been for any other day, she could have put up with it. However, the mixed smell of various

foods made her nauseous now.

Seeing Freya’s stern gaze, Melissa abandoned her attempt at acting cute as she obediently carried her

snacks to the lounge.

Just as Freya finished reviewing a document, her phone rang.

It was from Matthew.

“Hey, Kittie, do you miss me?”

Matthew spoke in a flirtatious tone.

As she juggled her phone and papers, she responded, “Matthew, if you have something to say, just say

it. If not, I’m hanging up.”

“No, no, don’t hang up. I have an important matter to discuss with you. When are you free? I’ll come to

your company and we can talk in person,” he said urgently.

“Fine, come at noon after lunch. I’ll have a little more than an hour before heading to the Joint

Department. I’ll leave that time for you,” she replied as she rolled her eyes.

“Great!”

With that, he hung up.

Soon after, Ayden arranged for Melissa’s apartment and brought her over for inspection.

Only Freya was left alone in the office. She let out a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness it’s finally quiet

now.”

Since Ayden was not around at noon, the phone leading to the president’s office was routed to her.

“Miss Kaufmann, there is an old lady on the first floor who claims to be your grandma and insists on

seeing you.”

Freya frowned. Her grandmother had passed away long ago, and she had never even met her.

Suddenly, she thought of Daniella. “Bring her up.”

A few minutes later, the receptionist from the first floor brought Daniella to Freya’s office.

Daniella’s usually kind face was now filled with sadness.

Her voice trembled slightly as she said, “Frey, my dear granddaughter-in-law, I finally got to see you!”

Seeing her reaction, Freya was taken aback as she quickly walked up to support her. “Grandma, why

did you come out by yourself again?”

What’s going on with Radley?

Letting an elderly Alzheimer’s patient go missing twice in a month?

Daniella held onto her hand and said, “Frey, I have something to ask you. Are you and Radley getting a

divor-

However, she couldn’t continue as she looked at Freya expectantly, as if hoping Freya would deny

what she was about to say.

Freya pursed her lips and replied, “I’ll give Radley a call first.”

She had a vague feeling that something was not right. Previously, Radley had hidden the fact of their

divorce from his grandmother to avoid shocking her.

However, Grandma had found her way to the Kaufmann Group, and she had probably learned of her

identity as the daughter of the Kaufmanns.

Naturally, she would know about their divorce too.

However, how could she have found out when everyone in the Monaghans’ mansion was keeping it a

secret from her?

Under Daniella’s gaze, Freya made a call to Radley in a calm tone. “Radley, could you come to the

Kaufmann Group now? Your grandma is here.”

As she hung up the phone, Daniella’s expression turned sad. She held Freya’s hand tightly as she

asked, “Frey, did Radley bully you? I will teach him a lesson for you. Divorce is a big deal. I understand

that Radley has mistreated you all these years, but-”

When she learned about the news of Radley and Freya’s divorce, her immediate thought was that they

should work things out and reconcile.

There were ways to remedy a divorce, but…

“Frey, did Radley hurt you too much?” Daniella tightly squeezed Freya’s hand.

After hesitating for a moment, Freya finally told her the truth.

“I’ve forgotten everything that happened in the past two years. I just got into a minor car accident and

lost my memory. After I woke up with amnesia, Radley asked for a divorce.” She looked sincerely at

Daniella and added, “Grandma, I think Radley and I are not suitable for each other.”

Daniella’s face stiffened as she asked with a trembling voice, “So, you’ve forgotten about your love for

Radley too?”

“Yes.” Although it was cruel, Freya still answered directly.

At that, Daniella closed her eyes, a tear falling down her cheek.

There is no remedy to make up for it.

This may be the harsh retribution for how Radley mistreated Frey.
