Chapter 792
After she hung up the call, Genevieve tried to push her luck by walking over to examine the floor-to-ceiling window.
However, she noticed the sliding doors were also locked. Moreover, all the glasses installed on both levels of the
mansion were bullet resistant.
Genevieve planned to seize the opportunity to escape when the housekeeper opened the door to send her
breakfast.
Unexpectedly, the housekeeper was not alone when serving her breakfast. Trailing behind the housekeeper were
the two burly bodyguards who took care of her at Jadeborough. Their presence completely destroyed her hopes of
escaping.
The housekeeper placed the breakfast on the table and bowed at Genevieve. “Ms. Rachford, please call the internal
line if you need anything else.”
Forcing a smile, Genevieve grunted in response.

room. There was only a traditional telephone that could only be used to call the internal line downstairs.
She wondered if Armand knew Jack had brought her to Dartan.
However, after guessing Jack's possible intention of kidnapping her to threaten Armand, Genevieve suddenly wished
Armand would not come look for her.
She endured the agony of waiting inside the room by herself. In the end, she grew tired and dozed off.
In a daze, she heard footsteps outside the door. Genevieve hurriedly got up and switched on the lights inside the
room. Then, she saw Jack entering with a tray of food in his hands.
Stepping forward, Genevieve questioned, “Why are you locking me here? Are you trying to threaten Mando by
using me as leverage?”
“The housekeeper said you did not eat anything in the afternoon. You must be hungry now.” He placed the tray on
the table. “I told the housekeeper to prepare your favorite dishes. Come—”
Jack wanted to pull Genevieve to sit down and have her meal, but she swatted his hand away.
“Jack, I know you treat me very well, but I really can't fall for you. We've spent four years together. Do you still fail
to recognize that?” Genevieve did not want to hurt him, but she did not have any other choice. Staring at him, she
enunciated, “I love Armand, and I can never accept another man.”
Her words were like a heavy blow to his heart, causing him to suffocate.
At times, Jack felt lost and confused as well.
Evidently, he was comparable with Armand in every aspect, and he treated Genevieve better. He was also the one
who accompanied the two children as they grew up, but why wouldn't Genevieve fall for him?
Jack rubbed his chest and beamed faintly at her. “It's fine if you don't love me, as long as I love you. I have never
wanted to threaten Armand with you as leverage. The two children belong to him while you are mine. You'll stay by
my side instead of going anywhere else.”
Genevieve tried her best to stay calm as she attempted to persuade him using the sentimental card. “Jack, I do not
love you, but I think of you as one of my dearest friends. Otherwise, I would not have investigated behind your back
after realizing Charice was still alive. That was because I didn't want you to know the harsh truth. Lucian and Mandy

hands and added in a gentle voice, “You have a home, a family. Me, Mando, Lucian, and Mandy... We are your
family. We will always be with you. Return to the country with me, okay? You will only make me like you lesser by
detaining me in this manner.”
Shaking his head, Jack gazed at her tenderly. “Hate me as you wish. I will never let you go. Genev, my love for you
far exceeds that of Armand's.”
Genevieve's heart sank.
Letting go of his hand, she said coldly, “Jack, what you're doing is not an expression of love. You're just trying to
possess me because you failed to win my affection. Also, don't compare yourself to Mando. You're not qualified!”
Not qualified?
He stared at her impassive expression and flashed a rueful grin. “Indeed. I am not qualified. Even my birth was foul
and unwanted...”
At his words, Genevieve felt her heart clench. She wanted to say something, but in the end, she merely pursed her
lips in silence.
