Chapter 301 It Hurts

She stepped on Elyse like how Elyse had stepped on her father just a moment ago.

Elyse let out a scream of agony. "Save me, Dad!"

Michael slapped his leg vehemently when he saw the situation had taken a turn for the worse. Sh*t!

She's free. We're in trouble. Without a moment of hesitation, he ditched his daughter and ran up the

mountain.

Damn you, Dad! Elyse cursed in her mind.

Amelie sent Elyse flying with a kick. Then, she quickly untied her father before doing the same for Bria

as well. Her daughter's face was as swollen as a small balloon, covered in bruises. Amelie had never

done this to her daughter before, and she felt something squeezing her heart when she saw Bria like

this.

"Time for you to die, Amelie!" Elyse hissed as Amelie took Bria up. Amelie raised her head and saw

Elyse holding a gun, pointing it at her. "I was just trying to have some fun. Killing your father was a part

of my show, and yet you ruined it. Guess you'll have to die, then."

With that, she pulled the trigger. Everything happened within a mere second, and Amelie couldn't

possibly dodge that. An explosion of gunshot roared in the air, almost deafening her. Before the bullet

could fly out of the gun's chamber, she pushed Bria away.

After that, she heard a thud. Amelie froze, but to her surprise, she felt no pain. So, what's with the

thud? She turned around just in time to see her father picking up Bria, who was lying on the floor.

Something broke her heart, tearing it into tiny little pieces.

Steven approached her with Bria in his arms. "Don't worry. She's alright."

"S-She is?" In disbelief, Amelie touched the girl.

Bria pounced into her embrace and burst into tears. She's alive, and there's no blood on her. What's

going on? Amelie held her daughter before turning her attention to Elyse. The woman was kneeling on

the ground, and her gun was nowhere to be found. Surprisingly, there was a hole in her wrist, blood

pouring forth from it, and the ground beneath her was soon drenched in red.

Only then did the pain register, and Elyse let out a scream. "Aaaargh!"

Who did this? Who did it? Amelie looked around and saw a familiar figure showing up. His hair was as

black as the night, and his eyes filled with fury and murder. It was Leo. She heaved a sigh of relief

when she saw him. Phew.

"Are you alright?" Leo looked at her.

"Yeah." Amelie patted Bria's cheeks.

Noticing the bruises on the little girl's cheeks, Leo's face fell, and the air around him filled with murder.

"I… I-It's not me… S-She bit me…" Elyse could feel the murderous intent coming off Leo. Forgetting

her pain, she shook her head, trying to weasel herself out of certain death.

Leo didn't shoot her. Not just yet. He closed his eyes and held his fury back. "You guys should leave

first." He didn't wish to kill anyone when Bria was around.

Amelie got the message and left with her family.

Julia and Samuel had just arrived after Amelie and her family descended the mountain. "Elie, Bria, Mr.

Dillon! You guys are hurt!" Julia's heart went out to the family. She wanted to slap herself. "I can't

believe I missed the hint. I should've realized the transaction was a cry for help! Samuel told me about

it when he came back, and we rushed here as soon as we could." Her eyes were tearing up.

"It's alright. Leo came just in time. We aren't hurt that much," answered Amelie. She glossed over the

details in case Julia felt even guiltier.

The act of using Starlight Media's money was a cry for help, but she knew Julia might not get it. It was

a matter of luck. Julia took Bria and touched her injuries, looking sad. She was on the verge of tears. "I

won't ignore this next time. I won't miss your cry for help. No, wait. There won't be a next time!"

Meanwhile, Leo looked at Elyse coolly as he approached her. In fear, Elyse held her bleeding hand,

backing off. Her eyes were fixed on his gun all the while. She was worried he might pull the trigger

once she looked away. The gun was pointed at her chest. Even though he hadn't shot her, she could

feel something getting torn out of her chest. Elyse eventually backed herself to a boulder, her mind

overwhelmed by fear and despair. Eventually, she had a meltdown and burst into tears. "I'm sorry, Leo.

Please, have mercy on me," she cried as she knelt before him.

However, the man looked at her inscrutable, his eyes as calm as an undisturbed lake. Slowly, he

placed the gun against her head.

Elyse felt sweat drenching her back, and she closed her eyes, tensing up. "Y-You can't kill me. T-They'll

arrest you."

"They will think I was just defending myself," said Leo. He pursed his lips, the murder around him

almost becoming palpable.

Just before he pulled the trigger, the woman said, "I have a secret! A secret only I know! If you kill me,

you'll never know that secret!"

"Do you think I'd believe you?" He wasn't interested.

However, Elyse smiled. "You will."

Twenty minutes later, Amelie and her family were in the hospital to check their injuries. Fortunately, all

of them only suffered shallow wounds. The doctor was rubbing salve over Steven, while Bria was lying

in Amelie's embrace, refusing to let the doctor touch her.

Amelie didn't force her to face the doctor, seeing that she had just gotten out of an ordeal. She took the

salve and rubbed it on Bria. A while later, the girl fell asleep in her embrace, and she carefully placed

Bria on the bed, patting her head.

"You should get your wounds looked at." Steven came up to her, looking at her wrist. There was

sadness in his eyes. Not once did he ever even lay a finger on his daughter, yet Elyse almost killed her.

He felt like he was a failure.

"I'm alright. It doesn't hurt." Amelie shook her head and hugged her father. "As long as you're alright."

Steven returned her hug. "I'm fine."

Right after Amelie's wound was bandaged, in came Julia, the clacks of her heels echoing across the

air, her shirt billowing in the wind. "That Leo, I swear, is a fool," she blurted, a mocking smile curling her

lips. She was about to go on, but then she noticed the doctor and held her tongue.

Once the doctor was gone, Amelie asked, "What did he do this time?"

Julia sneered. "Do you know what he did with Elyse?"
