Heidi gazed at the disconnected call, a glint of triumph flickering in her eyes. She refused to believe that lan wouldn't fall for her without Clara’s presence.

Jan had seen Clara checking into a hotel with Anders with his own eyes, so why was he still pining for her? Could he truly have feelings for Clara? Impossible! Clara was nothing more than a sugar baby to him; he couldn't possibly harbor any real affection for her.
Heidi's jealousy peaked as she watched lan on the bed, clutching Clara's pillow and smothering it with kisses.
Tonight, Heidi vowed, lan would be hers.
With that thought, a sultry smile spread across her face, and she began to slowly slide the straps of her slip dress down her shoulders. But just as she was about to continue undressing, a chilly female voice cfrom behind. “Heidi, what are you doing?” Startled, Heidi quickly righted her clothing, only to be confronted by Greta’s stern visage. Immediately, Heidi offered a smiling explanation, “Greta, lan’s had a bit too much to drink. He said he wantedto stay and keep him company.” Greta cast a dispassionate glance at lan, hearing him continuously mutter Clara’s name. She let out a light chuckle, “I'm afraid you're not the person he needs.” Her words pierced through all of Heidi's schemes.
Heidi quickly adopted a pitiful look, her eyes welling up as she said, “Greta, | just can’t stand to see lan in so much pain.” Greta was unsympathetic. “It's the dead of night, and a lady of your standing is with my brother. Think of the scandal it would cause. I'll have the chauffeur take home.” you She was a hair's breadth from saying, ‘Climbing into my brother's bed? Not on my watch.

Head bowed, eyes brimming with grievance, Heidi whispered, “Then I'll leave. Take care of him, Greta.” The following morning.
04:27 lan was roused by the incessant ringing of his phone, which he silenced with a touch of annoyance. Then, stretching an arm toward the other side of the bed, he mumbled, “Clara, stay witha little longer.” This hand grasped at empty air. The person he sought wasn’t there.
His eyes snapped open, fixating on the empty space next to him. He distinctly remembered Clara bringing him home. He even recalled her angry reproaches. So why had she disappeared now? Had she left after getting what she wanted? Was she fearful of his blame? A mocking smile played on lan’s lips as he rose from the bed and headed into the bathroom.
When he descended the stairs after freshening up, he heard cooking sounds from the kitchen. Through the frosted glass door, he spotted a dainty figure bustling about.
A dark gleam flashed in lan’s eyes. He took a cigarette from his pocket and lit it but didn’t push open the door, instead leaning lazily against the wall. In an indifferent tone, he called out, “I thought you made your rejection pretty clear. So why the change of heart?”
