Earlier in the evening, his mood turned sour at the thought of her getting bullied on the set. He was

Jackson flicked the swelling on her forehead.
“Ouch!” Serenity could not help crying out in pain.
He scoffed. “You can feel pain?”

She glared at him.

She was bewildered. What the hell?! She’s the one who got messed with and got hurt, so why was he
getting angry instead?
“L… didn’t do it for fun,” she stammered after a long pause.
“Didn’t do it for fun? Then why did you become an extra? What, do you want to become a star? Why
didn’t you just tell me then? I can make you famous. You can ask me for any role you want. You don’t
have to kneel and kowtow and get your hand injured!” he berated coldly.
If his rationality wasn’t holding him back, he would tie her to his side right now so that she could not go
anywhere and would not get bullied.
Serenity took a deep breath, then held her chin up slightly and said, “For $330. I earned $130 working
as an extra, and I earned a further $200 by kneeling and kowtowing to Aria. That’s the reason I became
an extra. You happy now?”

was before she met him. Back then, her life was lonely, but at least she was not an object in a game.
“What if I don’t want you to pay any price?” he asked.
“Then I would have even less of a reason to take money from you. I can feed myself just fine,” she
answered.
He scoffed, “By making yourself this miserable?=
She kept quiet. Her eyes dimmed slightly. But after that, she slowly lowered her eyes and said in a soft
voice, “At least I earned the money through honest work I don’t have to be scared of anything.”
