Jackson gave her a deep look. A long moment later, he finally responded with a single syllable, “Sure.”
Just then, there was a knock on the bedroom door.
Jackson unlocked the door and opened it to reveal the butler, Elliot, standing in front of the door.
“Sir, the people from the Hall family are here,” Elliot informed.
“The Hall family?” Jackson repeated, an unsmiling look flashing through his eyes.
Serenity stiffened at what she had just heard, her face paling at the mention of the Hall family’s visit.
“Yes. Mr. and Mrs. Hall as well as their daughter, Jenny Hall,” Elliot said. “They said they must see you
no matter what, Sir.”

Jackson returned to Serenity and said softly, “I’ll talk to them. Wait for me here. I’ll be back soon.”
Serenity remained stiff and looked at him with a confused look in her eyes. She seemed puzzled.
Jackson traced his finger along her bruised cheek. “I must seek justice for you”
After saying that, Jackson left the room in a stride.
Serenity remained as still as a statue until Jackson’s figure disappeared from her view. Only then did
she lift her hand in a trance and touch her face, feeling the lingering warmth of his touch earlier.
