“No you don’t have to go that far.”
Serenity was just a delivery driver. If news got out that the mighty Jackson Valor had to find a
replacement for her, a lot of jaws would drop to the floor.
The blame was still on him for being so enticing, which led to Serenity losing herself in his presence. At
least she now understood how it felt to be in love with someone so attractive.
“Serenity? Serenity!” Clara’s voice sounded next to her ear, forcing her to snap out of her daydream.

Yesterday, Clara’s mother had fallen and injured her leg. Because Clara had to send her to the hospital,
their restaurant had to close early.
“It’s nothing too serious. The doctor said she’ll have to undergo a minor operation,” said Clara
“Is it tomorrow? Doesn’t Yanny have to attend his class tomorrow?” asked Serenity.
She was referring to the classes that children who had recently gotten cochlear implants attended in
order to understand what different pronunciations meant. In brief, these classes helped Yanny learn

“I’m afraid I won’t be able to send him to class tomorrow, After all, they’ll need a family member to be
on standby for her operation”
“I can help send Yanny to his class tomorrow,” offered Serenity.
“You’ll send him to school?” asked Clara with a stunned expression.
“Of course! After all, I’ll be having my break tomorrow afternoon. I have enough time to drop him off at
his class,” said Serenity. “Yarny’s learning quickly, and he seems quite enthusiastic about those
lessons.”
The day after his lessons, the boy would always talk to her excitedly. With his soft boyish voice, he
would vocalize simple words in his vocabulary from time to time.
The ability to listen and speak seemed to have opened a new door for the boy, giving him an
experience that he had never felt
before.
“Oh, how could I let you do that? You should be resting during your break.”

That Saturday afternoon, Jackson and Serenity stond in front of the car, staring at each other in
surprise. Standing next to her was little Yannick with his cochlear implant.
“What are you doing here?” she asked. She never expected to see Jackson waiting outside when she
brought Yannick out of the restaurant.
